Description

A Scarab team on scout duty. Sandrail-like vehicles are popular with desert raiders due to their low running costs and good offroad mobility. Convoy commanders in these regions take Scarab sightings seriously as they often herald the attacks of more heavily armed and armoured machines.

Design Features

- The Scarab’s steel-tube frame is light and strong and can easily be fitted with shade cloth, cargo racks, armour plates or camouflage netting.

- Coil-spring suspension provides a smoother ride in rough terrain and improves weapon accuracy.

- Large low-pressure run-flat tyres improve traction on bad ground and help Scarabs climb steep dunes or scree slopes.

- The centrally mounted air-cooled engine is harder to access than a forward equivalent but is less easily damaged in combat and improves stability and acceleration.

- A forward winch and cable can pull an immobilised Scarab to safer ground and a rear towbar can be used to pull light trailers or support weapons.

- Weapons can be fitted to mounts on the frame or upper rollbars. This Scarab carries a belt-fed machine gun and lighter automatic rifle which can easily be dismounted if the crew needs to fight on foot. Common variants include grenade launchers and large-bore anti-materiel rifles.
