Description Little Oswald loved his parents, but all they ever did was fight. His father used to beat his mother then leave the house for days at a time. Oswald's mother then beat him without ever saying why.

One night Oswald could stand it no more. He ran away and kept on running until he was lost in a great dark swamp. It ruined his clothes, stole his shoes and threatened to devour him. At last he climbed onto a rotting log, buried his head in his hands and wept.

"Why are you crying, little boy?" asked the Floatie of the Fen, who had not had a visitor in four hundred and thirty seven years. Oswald explained as best he could, and the Floatie of the Fen produced a shining key from a pale blue flame.

"Take this key home," the Floatie said. "Put it underneath your pillow, and you will never cry again."

The Floatie led Oswald out of the the swamp and Oswald found his way back home. His mother beat him even harder, but she did not find the key. Oswald put it under his pillow, lay down his head and remembered no more.

The next day a handsome man named Oswald woke beside his loving partner in a warm and spacious bedroom while their children played downstairs. He found the key beneath his pillow but never learned where it came from.

Made me think of Kanada, whose work all deals with metamprphosis, none pf which benefits the recipient. People changing into diapers -which are then used. Paint, armpit hair,... toys...

Over at InkBunny.

the story reminds me of the old adam sandler movie "click" where a guy gets a magic tv remote from an angel and uses the fast forward button to skip through large parts of his life

Beautiful... not only the drawing is terrific, the story also gave me the creeps... I was reading it, and I thought "oh noes, don't let something horrible happen"... and then there was this "happy" ending... <3 it!

I'd be worried if you'd heard it before. I came up with it the other night during another bout of insomnia!
