                      He lives for his desires and his desires range far and many, attention span of roughly a 5 year old. He charges after any wants with an impulsive and thoughtless abandon, zero hesitance, and a wide grin—blazing eyes. He also doesn't care what other people may think of his interests or actions—he likes what he likes, does what he does, and nothing can change that (nothing but the Russian roulette that is his mind). So basically, he ignores societal standards and does what he wants to.
                      Even though he does things for himself without regard to others, it's not like he's self-centered. He's self-centered in a way a child is—he doesn't deliberately demean others. It's just that, oooh he really wants to do this right now. I'm going to do this right now.

                      Despite probably seeming like the type, he technically doesn't actively pull pranks, Bugbear just doesn't have that mean spirited factor to think pranks are enjoyable. It's more like, his existence itself is one Giant Prank. Him simply living and interacting with the world around him makes him pull things similar to pranks (since he lives in his Own world), and probably garner the same response as such. But are they really pranks? He steals your socks 'cause he likes the designs. He drinks from your mug unannounced 'cause he wants to taste what's in it. Troublemaker is a suitable name for him.

                      He often attempts scaring people though, popping around corners suddenly (the effect is sometimes lost when he can't stop grinning from excitement) or leaving Spooky Trails throughout someone's day to try and freak them out, but that's just in his desire to be a good bugbear(boogeyman). Bugbear does everything he wants to do, and he does it very enthusiastically.

                      While he isn't mean spirited he does like the look of fear on people. It's an occupational hazard for a bugbear.

                      history
Bugbear's always naturally been in his own world. His father was a bugbear as well, and growing up he tried to teach him what it meant to be what they were—but he kind of didn't care, too caught up doing his own things like sword (stick) fighting with the other neighborhood boys. Being such a naturally rebellious child, there was always a bunch of arguments thrown back and forth between family members, but the family still was quite functional. Everyone in the family was already kind of naturally, well, rebellious. There's some yelling and kicking but things didn't actually feel tense, per say, it was their standard quo, the: let me have this, and I'm doing this anyways. So while his father would always bark about the issue, Bugbear would always bark back, he felt no real concern or need to delve into it. He was perfectly fine not being so... bugbear like. He had plenty of other things that excited him more than scaring children or whatever his dad said bugbears do.

                    That's how he's always thought. Always, until he really got to taste it. To experience it with his own eyes. In front of him with inches to spare. The grin that stretched across his face never felt so natural, pulling wide, eyes crescented into slits, heart fluttering yet pounding like a drum.

                      God, if this is what it meant, he wanted to be good at controlling his magic too. That'd be so good. It'd be so good. Seeing the terrified looks on peoples faces all the time? It was like a drug. It took him less than a day after that to decide to enroll. He wanted it so badly. He needed it. This was it.

anything that has the purpose of making someone scared. i.e: heighten anxiety, cause the lights to flicker, auditory hallucinations, physical manifestations, etc
                                a good analogy: pennywise!

                      ▶ dislikes [not much・people who kill his buzz maybe (buzzkills, for short), though that's an exceedingly difficult task to do]
▶ he actually does habitually steal 'cool looking' socks, he has a wide collection to show off with his crocs (for the purpose of flashing them in the hole-y shoes)
