Description I wanna be a character designer and yet I've still no clue how to do character reference sheets woo.
I mean it's ok I guess, looks kinda decent. I even tried to add an actual watermark thing instead of just the hidden-ish signatures I usually do, and I think it's fine.

So hey guess who made up yet another character concept, thaaaat's right, this guy : D I mean is there even such a thing as too many backup characters like really, I dare you to try to convince me otherwise.
On an unrelated note if anyone's writing a book and needs characters hmu I'll fill that world right up it'll be a bigger mess than GOT--

So here everyone, meet Marble, a kobold rogue~ I may have fallen in love with kobolds, partially cause we encountered them in our Pathfinder campaign but also because of a recent CritRole episode with a certain Chris Perkins showing up with a surprise kobold character, and I ended up deciding that yep I want one. I mean look at em, they're like miniature dragonborn so smol and pathetic and adorable<3 : D I might not be able to actually play her in a good long while but she's here and I love her anyway.

Honestly, I'm really happy with how she turned out, and how this entire picture came out. Aside from the overall sheet design and how dark it turned out, I don't have a lot I feel like complaining about. I'm happy about her design and the marble pattern/texture, the outfit is simple but works, the anatomy and pose look good and correct and the eyes are big and shiny and pretty. I almost wish I would've gone even weirder lizard eyes, but at least now the eyes seem focused enough to not be too animal like, but still have the lizardy thing going on. She did go through a few iterations, especially with the colour scheme and her outfit and equipment as I considered bard for a while, but the few constants I had from pretty early on was to give her a skin pattern to look like marble and that she'd have a human-sized belt that she wears like a sash (I have a specific item in mind but that's hush hush for now). Not looking forward to repeating that pattern however, so I'm kinda thinking it just shifts as she sheds and regrows her scales or something (which I know is not how patterns on reptiles work but it's fantasy I do what I want--) There is a story reason for that specific pattern as well but again hush for now (and even with the risk of stating the obvious no she's not actually made of marble it is just the pattern on her scales, she's basically a white kobold).

Well here she is, my smol lizard child<3 Don't let the size fool you tho she will stab you she's precious like that.
I have another sketch of her I want to try to finish up but I needed to figure out her colour scheme and pattern first.
Phew, haven't done a wall of text in a bit, I suppose cause it's been mostly commission and fanart uploads lately, well here's an oc to break the pattern a bit.

Hope you like her o/ <3

I really love the use of colour, it all blends nicely together and isn't too oversaturated or flashy. The cracks and underbelly flow great with the overall design.
The only nitpick I have is that the daggers seem a bit basic when put against her body design and that of her armour/clothing.
Aside from that 👌

Thank you c: I'm glad the colours work together, I mainly tried to pick out dark earthy tones for the outfit to cover her lighter bodycolours, since she's meant to be a stealthy type and all. As an afterthought I'd probably add a hooded cloak, but didn't really feel like adding another layer to cover what I'd already done :'D
I get where you're coming from, but I kept the dagger designs simple half on purpose. I had already spent plenty of time just figuring out the pose and perspective for them and the hands, and just wanted the lineart done so I could get to designing her bodycolours and -markings :'> I just kind of think of them as a starter set before she can afford something with a bit more design : D

OMG! I'm making a Kobold rogue too who is also a backup character! You can never have too many backup characters! 👍👌
Marble here looks amazing! I love Kobolds.
I hope I'll post mine soon and show what she looks like! It's always exciting seeing people do the same thing you do! Great minds think alike after all! 😜
Keep up the good work! 👍

Oh wow, nice! : D Tiny lizards for the win<3 Haha, glad that someone agrees with me, after all you can never be too sure when the dm decides to throw rocks at the entire party and you need a quick backup : D
Thank you~ I've never played a kobold before but more a delve into them the more I start liking them, precious little minidragons~ And they're hecka fun to draw too~
I'll definitely need to keep an eye out for your lil one then~ Indeed haha, it's fun finding people with different takes on the same ideas : D
Thank you, and thanks for the favourite<3

You're welcome.

Do you have a setting you work in? Like, is there background info, and such?

Do you mean with Marble specifically, or in general? : >
It depends, there are times I use a specific game's setting to come up with a character, especially if I'm given enough time to create a new character from scratch. Tho I think most my more active characters started with just a generic idea that I then can later refine to fit whatever setting they end up joining.
With Marble specifically, I did use our Pathfinder campaign as an inspiration, but her backstory draft is still very vague and easily adjusted to fit pretty much any fantasy setting.

Ah, okay. I was kinda asking generally, but I always forget that people tend to have more than one setting they work in. I only have one all encompassing setting for all my characters and such, which is where the confusion comes from on my end. I've never played Pathfinder, but I did just recently start to play D&D with my neighbor, and their friends. Pretty darn fun. I'm working on figuring out the details of my own version...

But I've been worldbuilding since long before I realized it was a thing other people did...which was dumb, on my part...lol

Blah, blah, blah. Sorry to bug you. I was just curious. Thanks.

Aa, gotcha. I do enjoy worldbuilding as well, but I don't really have a single setting for all my characters, and they tend to be scattered across multiple sometimes very different settings :' D Mostly cause I tend to concentrate on one character at a time, especially in rps, I don't really have the time or the attention span to manage multiple active characters at once, haha.
That's really cool, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the game c: Pathfinder and DnD are basically very similar in that Pathfinder is like the open source version of DnD, very generic fantasy stuff with same things but with often different names. Tho at least in my experience most DMs have their own homebrew worlds and settings or other unique flaires which set the campaigns apart.

Are you thinking of creating your own campaign at some point? That sounds really cool~ Worldbuilding can be a ton of fun.

No worries, you're not bugging me at all, I'm happy to answer any questions c:

I love creating tons, and tons of characters...I don't really USE them, though. I've got a few I'm working with right now, though. It's coming along slowly, but I like what's being written, so it's all good.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, but I hadn't played Pathfinder, so I wasn't sure. My DM has his own world, but I don't know anything about it yet...

I dunno if I've got it in me to do that...but...maybe in a couple years when I've learned more about D&D, I can integrate Vesevia into it, a bit. It would be pretty awesome.

Glad to hear it.

I can relate, I love coming up with character ideas and concepts and figuring out their backstories and such, but I rarely get to really do anything with them beyond that. It's still a lot of fun tho, just to create that.

That's also fun about going into a campaign that's someone else's madeup world, you get to explore it and learn about it and the lore the dm has come up with first hand, and sometimes even expand it through your own character and their backstory c:

It's not the easiest job, but it can be very rewarding with the right player group. And it's fine to start with smaller, one-shot type games if going into a longer campaign feels intimidating, just to get a feel if dming really is something you'd enjoy and what you need to figure out while dming c:

I really enjoy RimWorld, because I can make a bunch of characters, kit them out, and then unleash them on the world, and watch how they interact with it, and one another. That was a very run on sentence. Hmm. lol

I really enjoy that sort of thing.

The group I'm with is great. Very nice people that put up with my obnoxious behavior better than should be expected. I'd love to do it someday, but I dunno. I'll try one-shots like you said, though. That's good advice.

Huu, I don't know much about RimWorld, but that sounds like fun. I imagine if I actually had the patience to play Sims I'd do something very similar, just spend a ton of time in character creation and let them roam around with free will and see what happens : D

That's great, it's always more fun when you're free to just goof around and the group's fine with it, or better yet goes along with it : D
I'm glad if that helps c:

RimWorld is like the sims, but you can do a whole lot more with it. There are so many good mods for it, too.
