Description I decided to do some "respectable" Meet the Robinsons fanart. The list of rules I established before starting this picture:

1. Canon fan-art. No fancharacters. No aging. No "Barely Legal" Wilbur. *sigh*
2. No Sexy (except for that which comes naturally.) No smirking, come-hither eyes on Wilbur. I'M NOT SURE I'VE EVER DRAWN HIM WITHOUT COME-HITHER EYES.
3. HAND COLOR. By god, I'm sick and tired of being out of practice with markers.
4. Absolutely no fixes in photoshop. Except to tweak that really shitty line of desaturation my scanner likes to leave down the center of all my drawings, and to punch up the contrast a little, since it always scans kind of greyish.

This is what I got. The usual: micron pens, prismacolor markers and white guache. I never was very good at blending blues. I'm going to blame it on my dwindling marker collection.

I used to hate Carl, but after watching the deleted scenes on the DVD, I just feel sorry for him. (Also he's easy to draw and fun to color.)

BAD, BAD ME. it is totally clean and canon, but maybe i subconsciously associate you with pervy thoughts or something, because the first split-second i saw it my brain took in this: carl's arms up in the air, wilbur's naughty eyebrows, and wilbur's finger on carl's mouth. brain supplies: "wilbur ties up and dominates carl?" nevermind that he's a robot...

yeeeah... wot?

your art just makes me horny, i guess? ?_?

jillo's handcoloring FTW *-*

ENID WHAT COME ON. I was like "Oh man I drew MtR fanart that could not possibly be misconstrued as raunchy go me!" AND THERE YOU GO PROVING ME WRONG.

I'd say your brain is further in the gutter than mine but I'm not sure that's at all possible. D:

I...DON'T KNOW. It was going to be a map or a blue print or something but then I got lazy and thought "lazy design framing for the win" so I thought it would look like the paper or something I DON'T KNOW. D:

I hated Carl when I first saw the movie in theaters. Then for some reason when the DVD came out I ended up liking him. Perhaps it was that deleted scene. Or maybe it was because my dear friend zetsumei-kusabana and I were going through our Meet the Robinsons obsession period...

Stepping away from me and my odd thoughts on the character Carl, I find this pic matching the characters accurately and it makes me giggle! I love it!

*snerk* I love that Carl's expression just screams "Wilbur...you know I hate you, right? You're gonna get me in SO much trouble, I KNOW it!"

And I don't think Wilbur would have it any other way! XD There's a reason that Carl has been reffered to at the "Royal assigned friend" to"The Bratty Prince of the Robinson Empire" far more than once among me and my friends...

And I'm amused that you have B.E.N. in your avatar. I always said Carl reminded me of some kind of unholy robot love-child of B.E.N. and Larry from Time Squad. XD

Wow, really great job, and I love your rule set. But hey, anytime your drawing Wilbur is awesome time in my opinion
This could totally be official 'Meet the Robinsons' art

And just a quick question on markers, are you using any particular brand?

jill-calico In reply to Almosee [2008-03-08 18:52:35 +0000 UTC]

Prismacolors. I've dabbled with Chartpaks before, but I prefer Prismas.

Awesome, I'm looking at investing in some at the moment (at the very least, a flesh coloured marker) and the big debate seems to be between copics and prismacolors.
My most trusted sources though, seem to be suggesting that prismacolors are the better choice, so thankyou

I love the "Well, looks who's hiding in the closet" one. You did really well for having a dwindling marker collection. I'm thinking of starting a marker collection, if only they weren't 4$ each.

jill-calico In reply to tigre-lys [2008-03-07 20:47:30 +0000 UTC]

If you can find an art store-- a REAL one, not Michael's-- you can usually get a better deal. Utrecht typically sells them for about $2.79 a pop, and when they go on sale (which they seem to be right now) they're closer to $2 each.

To be fair, I've been collecting and using markers for many years now, so I still have a pretty good variety. But some of my frequently used flesh tones and grays are starting to dry up. D:

WHAT WHY DO I KEEP FORGETTING YOU LIVE LIKE SUPER CLOSE? DX I usually go to the one in Royal Oak. I never go to the one in Detroit unless I happen to be in the area. Which...I never am. Though I probably should, cus I guess the DIA is done with renovations (FINALLY!) and the Utrecht is right across the street from the DIA. There's also a DuAll on John R in Madison Heights, but I prefer Utrecht.
