Description
Gaia...mother earth, keeper of all that dwells on the surface of this planet.Just like it was with Aurora , she was created without a thought about what I wanted to do.
I love mythological characters, expecially goddesses...I guess there are more to come someday.
Gaia is one of my most beloved ones and so I'm really glad to see the outcome of the piece
It was lots and lots of work and came out to be really personal. I started yesterday around noon and finished it today (yeah I got sleep, but apart from that, not much happened )
What took the longest was her hair...its ALL painted and I really, really like how it looks. It created itself I guess...I just happened to hold the pencil
I've never painted as much digital before...I'm still stunned
It's painted with a wacom intous4s tablet
One of my fav methodes:
To work colors over the picture, I use different solid color layers that are set to diffuse glow. Play around with the colors you can choose and blend it out via a mask at places you don't want them (to get contrasts or different saturation levels). It's easy to achive a total new feeling to a picture like that.
I hope you like it...Comments and constructive critiques are welcome as always
edit: THANK YOU!!
I've never had that many favs and views before (not slightly)!
Thank you all who liked this picture and for the awesome support
second edit:
I really am sorry, but I can't thank you all in person for faving anymore...I spend more than four hours the other day doing so and I really enjoyed it, but I (still don't get I really have to say that) can't keep up anymore right now. Please don't be offended...I thank you all from the core of my being for every single viewing or faving
I'll still comment back of course

rest is painted or my personal stock
EDIT: Sorry for the watermark...I was forced to it because someone thought it to be cool to steal it. Thanks for telling me guys.
Thank you all for your support and if you really wish to have this pic without the watermark, please write me a note

Du bist ja schon bald professionelle Graphikerin Wo bekommst du all deine AuftrΓ€ge her? Beziehungen?

Beautiful is to small a word for your stunning work, is there such a thing as an old master of the future?
I'm sure a few of the greats would lay down ther brushes and grab a Wacom after seeing this if they could.

Man.. I really appreciate you sharing your techniques - I love it when artists do that. As for the piece, not my favourite style - but the execution is first class. Those details brought out in the dress folds are delicious.

Thank you so much ... I really appreciate your words. I mean it really means something if someone whos favourit stile isn't the fantasy type and still tells me he likes it
For the sharing of techniques...well that was really the first thing that come to my mind when I was thinking about what to tell people

Thank you soo much I worked a lot on the color lightning...I had to take lots of time outs cuz I just couldn't look at it anymore an see the colors right
Well ... it's still weird how it looks totally different on my notebook or my tv screen and stuff

You're most welcome. I know how it is how you just need to stop messing wth it sometimes and just let it go!
All monitors vary, so you'll never really get exactly what you thought.

jillienGraphics In reply to fensterer [2010-08-20 14:14:16 +0000 UTC]
Yeah thats true...but it seems like the outcome isn't too bad on the most monitors I really have to stop myself from going into the really subtile details when it comes to the colors...It is so tempting, but of no use I guess. Thank you for your words

Stunning! I'm so glad I decided to browse through the digital art category today or I never would have found this.
I love what you did with the hair, its very creative and imaginative, the butterflys on the strands of her hair ... a really nice touch and the sign of a true artist.
Love this, well done, really great work!
