Description Gaia...mother earth, keeper of all that dwells on the surface of this planet.

Just like it was with Aurora , she was created without a thought about what I wanted to do.
I love mythological characters, expecially goddesses...I guess there are more to come someday.
Gaia is one of my most beloved ones and so I'm really glad to see the outcome of the piece
It was lots and lots of work and came out to be really personal. I started yesterday around noon and finished it today (yeah I got sleep, but apart from that, not much happened )
What took the longest was her hair...its ALL painted and I really, really like how it looks. It created itself I guess...I just happened to hold the pencil
I've never painted as much digital before...I'm still stunned
It's painted with a wacom intous4s tablet

One of my fav methodes:
To work colors over the picture, I use different solid color layers that are set to diffuse glow. Play around with the colors you can choose and blend it out via a mask at places you don't want them (to get contrasts or different saturation levels). It's easy to achive a total new feeling to a picture like that.

I hope you like it...Comments and constructive critiques are welcome as always

edit: THANK YOU!!
I've never had that many favs and views before (not slightly)!
Thank you all who liked this picture and for the awesome support

second edit:
I really am sorry, but I can't thank you all in person for faving anymore...I spend more than four hours the other day doing so and I really enjoyed it, but I (still don't get I really have to say that) can't keep up anymore right now. Please don't be offended...I thank you all from the core of my being for every single viewing or faving
I'll still comment back of course

EDIT: Sorry for the watermark...I was forced to it because someone thought it to be cool to steal it. Thanks for telling me guys.
Thank you all for your support and if you really wish to have this pic without the watermark, please write me a note

it looks really, really, really good. i can't believe your gallery is so small. it's amazing. you have your own style and your artwork is original. please be a new rising star in the fantasy photomanipulation gallery.

oh and one thing. don't upload your images in such small sizes because there are bad people out there who may steal your artwork and sell prints of it. the recommended size for web images is around 800 px, no more needed.

Thank you so much for your words I love your work btw I just started working digital I have to admit. I didn't know photoshop a half year ago...not to speak of my total unawareness of such beeing as photomanips and mixed media I did my first one like four four or five months ago
I didn't quite administer a style yet (I think so at least) but it's so great to see, that people like what I'm doing...if it makes them happy, thats just awesome

Thank you too for your great advice! I'd would be awesome of you, if you could give me more instructions how to "protect" my work...I mean until now I didn't even know I had to care about such things What do I have to do ?

Thank you so much again for your help and support ...means a lot to me

yeah, i read about that, i'm glad that you found digital art, you have very inspiring ideas and what's the most important... you have your own style at least i think you do
i started doing photomanipulations almost exactly 3 years ago

how to protect your artwork: the internet is evil.
when you finish an artwork in photoshop, save it in a separate folder, then make a copy of it. resize the copy to around 800 px, sharpen it if needed, then add your signature and/or watermark and save the copy to another folder. finally, upload the smaller & protected file to deviantart.

for example, i took a random work of mine: [link]
i'm not a huge fan of signatures, so mine is just in the bottom corner with my name and deviantart username
of course you can use bigger ones and place them somewhere where they can't be cut off easily (my signature could be cut off really well )

why do people steal art? i don't know. i've seen many sites and blogs where people post my art and claim it as their own. i'm not the only one who suffers this.
that's why it's important to protect your artwork because once you become famous there may be occassions where people start selling your artwork without your permission (and of course, you get nothing). just be very careful

Thank you so much for your words friend

I didn't realize that ... I bet those people aren't art lovers at all I don't get how you can steal other peoples work and claim it as your own...thats cold hearted and evil
I'll take your advice to heart...next time I'll be more carefull and I might watermark gaia too (aww...I don't like it, but better safe than sorry I guess)
I want to make people happy with my work, but I think you should protect yourself as well.

Thank you for your great support... and of course the watch dear

Thank you for you words If I can be of any help I'd be pleased The tablets are great I think...I couldn't do anything digital before I got one. I really didn't even know what you CAN do digitaly I'm still just a beginner myself actually for I started working like that only a few month ago. Oh yeah and working with the tablet is weird at the beginning, but I think you will grow accustomed to it really fast. To get a feeling for it I recomment the programm ArtRage...its really intuativ to use (way easier than SAI...I still couldn't figure that one out!) and you will get to know your tablet in no time
