Description Beam weapons are all very well, but sometimes the best way to convince an enemy they've been exterminated is to use lots of bullets.

The green boxes in the back are the magazines.

It costs $400,000 to exterminate someone....

....in 12 seconds.

I recall a serial where their gunsticks stopped working so the silly humans gave them machine guns in order to team up.

"Death To The Daleks" - I remember it. It was one of the inspirations for this model. I even used the same silver and black colour scheme that the Daleks had in that adventure. See also fav.me/d5dzd7m

I recently watched "Death to the Daleks." You see, the Daleks got the guns from their own supplies.

That seems sensible. If I were them, I'd keep some good old fashioned bullet chuckers around for emergencies. A hail of lead will always beat a beam in my book.

Question is, how did they have so much ammo? Did they somehow manufacture it inside the casing or what?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jim197 In reply to wrestlemania489 [2015-01-23 11:44:45 +0000 UTC]

The guns looked to be fairly small calibre, so I think they could have found room for an ammo magazine of decent capacity without too much trouble. I doubt they would have manufactured the ammo internally because the raw materials and manufacturing equipment would probably have taken up just as much room as a magazine.

I do! I'm also a military affairs student of sorts, this kind of reminds me of a Phalanx CIWS!

Jim197 In reply to SapareAude [2013-11-18 13:45:07 +0000 UTC]

You have a good eye, the design was indeed inspired by the Phalanx. In fact the gun in this version is essentially a miniaturised Vulcan gatling gun, the same as on a Phalanx.

Anyway, keep up the awesome work!

I've been working on a way of showing the gun firing, but it isn't finished yet. One day...

Glad you like the design

Jim197 In reply to harroldsheep [2013-04-14 16:11:43 +0000 UTC]

I guess the dalek either backs up to a machine that reloads it, or they use conscripts from planets they've conquered. Back in the original series, the daleks sometimes used the services of an ape-like race of mercenaries called the Ogrons; they were pretty dim, but would be ideal for a task like this.

Either that, or the minigun ammo boxes are not removable; rather they load via internal ducts. Once combat is concluded, the Dalek's ammo boxes are reloaded via machine.

yes, that would work too.

OR that's a pulse laser minigun and the ammo boxes are actually batteries.

I've got to admit, now that you mention it, they do kinda look like batteries Β

That would still be epic to look at. Makes me think a bit of this scene from Dredd.

"ORDER PULSE DALEK INTO POSITION!"
Now that would be a cool model, a Dalek like that with batteries and a pulse cannon.
It could be used as a rapidfire supplement to the Special Weapons Dalek, seeing as it would take a long
time to reload.

Nice work, maybe this is what they use when there are no available resources to construct advanced beam weapons ? Maybe if you gave it camo colours it could be an addition to Winstons Curchills "Ironside's"

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

I can't bring myself to do a WWII version because it would be an anachronism. The Gatling design fell in disuse in the early 1900s and didn't reappear until around 1960. Sometimes too much knowledge is a curse.
