Description
This is a re-render of an old picture ( jim197.deviantart.com/art/USS-… ) using my latest Dirac cruiser And Conway station models. The old version of the picture has been moved to my scraps folder.

Since the last version the station has gained a name and had some minor changes to its design. The cruiser has gained manoeuvring thrusters and additional hull detail either side of the impulse engines, and has also had the top face of its primary hull and the rear end of its secondary hull redesigned.

Those interested in the technicalities of POV-Ray might be interested to know that both models have had their surface textures completely rebuilt. Previously they both made extensive use of layered textures to add the hull markings etc. This was a problem because I could never get layered textures to work very well, e.g. specularity would get amplified, and some of the layers tended to go missing in low quality test renders. The new versions use no layered textures whatsoever, just texture maps and object patterns. The end result may not look very different but its now much easier to get the effect I want.
