Why would you want less lift on take-off and landing?

That's the joke about this design!
It could never work in real life!

Now this i'd like to make into a model, i could see this along side hurricanes in a dogfight with Hinkle Bombers and Stukas.
Man i could see that on one of those collectable post cards or icecream cards.
Oh god who remembers ice cream cards?

Well in the Uk and here in Gibrantar you can pick up the Airfix kits for about... like four or Five dollers a pop.
I might get back into it again, i always enjoyed making models.

You reduced wing area during low speed aproach, that reduced lift as many as half, when additional lift more than necessary.
Exist few projects, where wing area reduced as many as half at high speed flight, for reducing drag, but during takeoff/landing these craft has fully expanded wing. I think, this in not good idea for safety landing/takeoff. Maybe you should consider variant, where landing-gear split wing into two part - upper, that remain in same place and generate lift, and lover surface, that carry landing gears.
Also in US.Navy were few incident with aircraft catapult assisted launch with folded wing, for example F-8 Crusared. As I know minimum in one case skilfull pilot landed back on carrier without troubles.

Hi!
In my universe, unconscious telekinesis is a gift that all peoples have, and they don't even know it.
The aircraft designers want it to work.
The pilots and crews want it to fly.
So, it works and flies, due to the waves of electromagnetic plasma that is produced in the human doobyomlagota, directed onto the body of the machine.
This talent of telekinesis does have its problems.
Every football game always ends in ties. Β The score is usually 0 to 0.
That's because both teams cancel out each other's efforts with their TK thoughts.
But there is little or no crime, as TK is used to hurl objects at assailants, or cause thieves to trip and crack their skulls.

Actually... there IS an effect called 'Wing compression' (It's why the wing tips on the XB-70 folded).
So.. with a slight 'Canted downwards' and the effect of the folded wings PLUS 'Wing In Ground Effect' you could/might (Also with enough horse power from the motor) get the beast off the ground.
Of course, upon landing, you've used up all your ammo, bombs and fuel so the landing weight is So much lower/lighter that the wing compression effect might make it HARDER to put it on the ground!
