Description   Curtiss Aircraft Co built the SC-1 Seahawk, float plane, for recon and anti-sub work, launched via catapult from heavy USN warships during WW2.
Prof. Anton Veeblefitzer suggested veebing one into a carrier and land based machine.
Floats were eliminated and small, but robust landing gear, that was fixed (!), was added.
  Wings folded, and housed 6 x .50 cal mg's.
The big deal, however, was the replacement of the motor with a 1,700 hp PW R-2600 double row radial.
The prototype, pictured, easily out performed the F4F-4 Wild Cat, and even the FM-1 and 2 General Motors version.
However, it fell short of performing against the Hell Cat and Corsair, and was not put into production.
