Description   Again, with sincere apologies to that outstanding Japanese illustrator..., Shigeo Koike (Google him!)

Professor Anton Veeblefitzer and his crew of Gremlin Outer-illustrator Students (GOIS), took the original Mitsubishi Ki-46 "Dinah" long range recon' bird, found in OUR mediocre universe, and veebed it into a jet powered heavily armed night fighter, radar equipped, identified as the Veeblefitzer-Mitsubishi VM-Ki-46B "Super Dinah".
The twin radial piston engines, powering the original aircraft, were replaced with two Veeblefitzer Itchikichikoo axil-flow turbojets, each rated at 1,250 lbs thrust.
The original Ki-46 could muster about 375 mph, and was armed with only one 7.7 mm for defense. Its mission was to perform long range reconnaissance for Japanese intelligence.
As the war progressed, there were a few variants that were armed for enemy bomber interception.
They were impotent in stopping the enemy air onslaught!
However...! In the much more interesting alternate universe of PAV, the jet powered VM-46B Super Dinah could top 478 mph (which sometimes led to structural disintegration, if the pilot wasn't careful[!]), and was armed with four 10 mm medium weight Veeblefitzer designed rapid firing auto rifles, located in the forward fuselage, ahead of the cockpit.
The heavy fire power was provided with a single 37 mm auto rifle, equipped with 150 rounds (!), buried in the lower left side of the fuselage.  A single 20 mm auto rifle was placed behind the cockpit, for "Jazz Music" attacks.
The rear cockpit housed the radar operator who helped guide the pilot to his unseen enemy target, using a simple Veeblefitzer designed "binocular" radar system.  The second crewman did not use a weapon.
The jet engines gulped fuel like crazy, and an enormous fuel cell was mounted, behind the upward pointing cannon, in the mid fuselage.  The craft could carry external fuel tanks to help extend range.
Landing gear was short, and of a conventional reverse tricycle design.
Pilots loved it!  If intercepted by enemy night fighters, such as the Northrop P-61 Black Widow, all they had to do was hit the gas, pull up and outclimb them!  Then loop behind the enemy, and rip them with their four mg's .
The big 37 mm cannon could be fired automatically, or semi automatically, as the pilot chose.  A favorite tactic was to approach an enemy bomber from behind, and when the twin wing radar beams converged on the target, the pilot would lob off one round at a time, until a hit was scored.  And often, it took only three or four hits to bring down the biggest six or eight engine monsters, flying around in those days.
Pictured is a Super Dinah patrolling the night sky to insure that no enemy will successfully sneak in and attack ships and island facilities.

. . . . . (!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) . . . .  SUDDENLY!!!! Volcanoes, thought to be extinct, Errrr-Ruppp-Ted!!!!!! in the distance!!!
The night was turned into an apocalyptical "Night-Day in Hell!" (That was the name of the Peter Jackson/Roland Emmerich 2023 war epic).
Two old volcanoes exploded into life, wiping out the Japanese island fortress and sinking the IJN fleet with mammoth tsunamis (note the IJN aircraft carrier, Takkobel, on the left.
This tremendous event set back the Kingdom Of Japan goals for several months, during that long, terrible "War In The Pacific (see global map dev. in my gallery, for history)".
