Description Here is the area blocked in... To get a smooth even color or shade, work your pencil in small circles back and forth in bands... NOT back and forth in lines or you will see them. That is a texturing skill used in hair, not smooth shading of areas like skin or clothes.
Now that I have the area darkened with charcoal, I will overlay the same area with 9B or softer lead. Here you do not want a sharp point, but rather a dull flat edge. take your pencil and using the edge of the point make small light ovals, keeping equal pressure on the lead. Constant pressure wether light or hard will make a smooth even shade of gray. Uneven preasure will make your drawing streaked with dark and light areas.
