Description A simple guide for isolating and masking shapes. If there's something unclear or strange in it just let me know. You can also come and chat with me. [link]

UPDATED!!! I thank Gerda1946 [link] for bringing this to my attention. It's a minor change. I've said in a spot that a node should be moved all the way to the right when the image in the tutorial shows it to the left. But don't worry. The tutorial should work anyway. I think people haven't got a problem with this because I haven't gotten any notes about not working. But as picky as I am with details I cannot let this minor error be, so I corrected my little mistake.

I cannot do that, sorry. The creation process for making it is too long and hard to write down. And I'm not happy about writing tutorials on whole pieces. Just techniques.

Kind regards,

Thanks. And the minor error now corrected. I'm glad it wasn't about the opacity nodes I wrote wrong. Then the tutorial might not have worked at all.

Hello Jim, here is the translation [link]

I made a little change in it. You say "Move the white node all the way to the right" - I made it "all the way to the left".

The fault is mine. I just saw it in the tut. Deepest apologies from me!!!

Jimpan1973 In reply to Gerda1946 [2011-07-09 22:21:26 +0000 UTC]

But what side the nods is in the bar can make the whole difference. There is a place that the node needs to be on the right side and not the left. Or you will get a totally different result. Have you tried the tuorial so it gives the same result?

Gerda1946 In reply to Jimpan1973 [2011-07-10 08:14:09 +0000 UTC]

I was making the tut during translation and then found the right/left thing.
But I see in the other message you found it too! Have a nice day!

Hi Jim, here is the translation! [link]

I made a little change. In the gradient part you say "Move the white node all the way to the right" - I made to the left out of it.

Gerda1946 [2011-07-08 19:38:07 +0000 UTC]

Hello Jim,
Is it OK when I translate this tutorial into Dutch! Thea (Theaver) and Coby are members of my club Fractal Academie [link] where we teach eachother to use Utra Fractal and (for a few) Apophysis. We do this by giving every week a basic fractal where everybody makes something out of.
Now I see that the members are eager to use masks but don't know how to do that! So, hence my question!
Love, Gerda

I think it's cool the you want to translate it to Dutch. But Dutch and Deutsch are a bit similar, aren't they?
