when I saw Iron maiden's somewhere in time cover back in the 80's I totally was amazed by this awesome character, Derek Riggs is the original designer and this was based on his work here:[link]
this time I wanted to create my own version, a more photo real look and make it look gross,scary and like a total badass, I avoided the exaggerated hero pose for a more natural pose, because I wanted this to look like a frame taken out from a movie
I'm a matte painter but from time to time I enjoy painting characters
mixed media, lots of photo manipulation, some 3D and lots of 2D painting as well
original is 5k height
