[The Dragon's posture shifts slightly--it's subtle, but far less threatening than before. When he speaks, his voice still rumbles...but without much of its usual roar.]
Dragon: "Is that all? Gods, I fell like such a boisterous fool for all that roaring--practiced that speech, even! Heh; I'll grant your request...so long as you promise not to tell anyone of this little embarrassment. A God of Fire must maintain his reputation, after all."

Human Traveler: (surprised, but grateful)Really? Oh, thank Gods, I thought you were going to be one of those "smiting at the slightest hint of foolishness" kind of Gods, but you always seemed pretty cool to me. Anyway, here's my notepad.(presents said notepad)

Dragon: [Smirks and snorts, blowing smoke out of his nostrils] "Well, I have my moments...but usually I'd like to think I'm fairly calm. I HAVE done some good for the humans and others in my domain, and not all of their worship is out of awe or fear of a great dragon god."
[With surprising delicateness, the great beast ignites the tip of one of his massive claws, making it glow red-hot...and inscribes his name, Goreshade of the Flames, with a neat path of burns on the paper. Not a single bit of ash clouds the notepad, nor is there any real damage aside from the draconian god's signature. Examining it, you find the burn to be a solid as dried ink...it doesn't smudge or smear at all]
Goreshade of the Flames: "I suppose that will do, hmm?"

This is the type of finicky dragon that only eats maidens.

The horse is tired; its been a long journey. The rider is wearing an all concealing robe and not discernible. The stick carrier looks ready to have the journey over, regardless of outcome. The leader appears unimpressed, having seen it all/been there done that.
The dragon is striking a pose; knowing the psychology of most dragons, this is deliberately to impress, while expending minimal effort.
The design of the dragon is unique and impressive, though I am left to wonder the structural design of the wings, but that is dragons and art: it needs to look cool, making sense is secondary to dragons; go ask John Howe.
The lighting on the dragon is well done.
I do add my second to the one composition point: the dragons is looking at the viewer not the party. Otherwise the head would be turned a bit clockwise and we would see part of its muzzle and face.

So much power in this picture. Are they going to fight it? Or are they consorting with it? Or is it a baby god dragon that's sinking into the lava and they're sad because they can't save it?
