It was an epic battle.
Borg finally decided to cut their losses. Disconnected cube from Collective before (they hoped) virus know as Faerie could spread further. Set Cube on course for nearest start, And for good measure triggered self destruct.
But it was too late. Somewhere an Android managed to gain access to their command routines while they were distracted. Several of the "coveted" former drones managed to launch an escape pod in time. They didn't even know they had escape pods. And the Collective could not eliminate the unease that maybe than had somehow missed a bug or two now in their system.
