Description "In that last hour, Beorn himself had appeared — no one knew how or from where.
He came alone, and in bear’s shape; and he seemed to have grown almost to giant-size in his wrath.
The roar of his voice was like drums and guns; and he tossed wolves and goblins from his path like straws and feathers.
He fell upon their rear, and broke like a clap of thunder through the ring."

My favourite character from The Hobbit. I really hope they do him justice in the films.
I've been struggling with this one for a long while. It has gone through so many changes but i feel like it's time to let it go.

It's also on my tumblr page - joelkilpatrick.tumblr.com/post…

thank you for doing justice to Beorn's part in the battle. He seemed a bit of an afterthought in that movie and I so looked forward to his coming and was extremely disappointed with how little of him was seen.
Actually, that whole movie battle just...disappointed me.

Hello again. It's been a month now, and I still haven't heard back from you. This imagine is listed in the wikicommons. This strikes me as perhaps not kosher, but I would like to use the image for personal and commercial uses if it is in fact an open, unlimited license.

I'm starting a tabletop gaming group for the hobbit, 'the bruges Beornings', and I'd like to use this image for the poster (basically the image with the name in the bottom corner) because it's so awesome! is that alright?
also do you have this in a bigger format?

Oh they did actually do him justice. They animated him for a full minute battle scene, he smacked orcs like rag dolls, some of them tried to crawl away from him. He even jumped onto a troll bigger than him and tore his throat out. Too bad they had to take that part out of the movie so that we could have Legolas doing a Super Mario stunt -_-

Action packed scene. Shows truly the strength of Beorn! Awesome artwork!

One question though:
Ardapedia, the German-speaking Tolkien-Wikipedia is in a process of polishing their articles with professional artwork. So I am searching in Deviantart for artists who may allow us to use their work in a, of course, non commercial way. The consent of the artists is very important to us. Copyright and ownership of course would be marked so no one else could claim it.

Could I use some of your works for this purpose?

I look forward to a positive answer.

He was your favourite character? Oh, dear.. then you must have been pissed of since they robbed Beorn of his role completely in the films. I love this character too and his lack of role in Peter Jackson's movies was the biggest reason why I didn't enjoy them. This is the real Beorn, I really like this piece   Tolkien would be proud.

BeautyAndStrength [2015-04-27 04:34:21 +0000 UTC]

THIS is the Beorn I wanted to see in the films! This terrifying beast right here! The one who ran all the way from his home to Erebor on foot and still had more than enough energy and strength to mow down orcs like they were made of wet paper!

Such a bad-ass! Even in one paragraph Tolkien showed us just how incredible and utterly terrifying he is and they totally took that away from him in the movies. Not to mention that they robbed him of his screentime just so that they could focus on Legolas for some reason. I'll never get over it!

Alright, mini rant is done. Let me just finish by saying that I love this picture to death! You really did our skin-changer justice.

Thank you and God bless!

Let me paint for you how it could've gone

Movie starts

They think that a big beastie is following them aside from the orc pack. Gandalf gets them all to go to Beorns house, there they find him chopping would like in the book. He says :"Gandalf Greyhem?"

Gandalf:"Beorn!"

Beorn:"I've not seen you many moons grey pilgram..."

Gandalf:"Always a pleasure to come across old friends."

Beorn:"I never said we were friends." -goes back to chopping wood.

-Thorin speaks up impatiently:"We need food, rest, and haven from the orcs on our tale."

Gandalf is aggrivated as Beorn replies:"For one thing, I do not thing a friend of mine...would bring dwarfs..to my door, nor an Orc pack to my door step, as you have."

Gandalf:"Please Beorn hear us out, we've been evading them this past fortnight without rest, and they've been so persistent to avenge their king we slew in the night." Beorn:"..............The Gobling King? You slew him aye?"

-Bilbo nods quickly, then notices a huge hole in a very thick wooden fence behind him-

Beorn:"You cannot stay but a night and a day, then you must keep moving. My sheep do not care for your kind, the smell scares them."

They begin to enter the house following him in, and Bilbo pulls on Gandalf's robes saying "Gandalf look, I think Orc's may've tried to get in already, unless one of his horses did that." Gandalf:"That was no Goblin's work, nor a horse of Beorns..."

Bilbo:"So your telling me a SHEEP did that in his fence? What could've tried breaking in?"

Gandalf:"Break in? Look at how it's been burst open, something got OUT..."

-we cut to that night when the dwarfs are asleep on the floor and so is gandalf, Biblo hears a Goblin screech so he goes to the window and peeks out a crack in it, seeing an Orc rider silently approaching Beorn's lands stealthily. He's about to warn the others when suddenly theirs a loud roar adn the orc packs attacked by a savage bear like beast. Bilbo almost screams but Gandalf covers his mouth.

Bilbo:"Gandalf that's it! The huge monster, he's right outside the gate, we have to tell Beorn!"

Gandalf:"That IS Beorn..." Bilbo:"Wha- no- really- THAT is him?"

Gandalf:"He's a skin changer....An ancient being who can turn himself into whatever creature he fancies. For a long time he has reverted to a black bear like creature. His human side as you saw can be affable enough...but his other side is not nearly as rational. It's most likely why he built that stall for himself to prevent himself from harming travelers...but his temper apparently got the best of him." -the entire time we've been cutting between them talking and Beorn beating the orcs INLCUDING their wargs, then roaring at the moon as the rest flee.- The next morning everyones gruffly eating Breakfast, except bilbo who is just starring at Beorn across the table like O__O cause he's the one who knows what he is out of the dwarfs.

Finally Beorn says:"Little man would you pass the beer. Please." Bilbo:"WHA?! OH OF COURSE, Here's the bear. AH BEER! Beer....Bear-orn BEORN..."

Thorin:"What in the world has gotten into you burglar...Nightmares of a bear last night?"

Beorn glares for a minute then leans in at bilbo, "You saw me last night...?"

Bilbo looks at Gandalf who nods for him to nod so he does. Beorn:"I did not harm any of you...?"

Gandalf shakes his head. THEN he explains what he is, and why he hates Goblin's and such

Personally, I've always loved the scene in the original when Beorn was introduced.

Is it ever made clear anywhere whether he retains human memories when he's a bear? Hmm
