Indeed it is. While Ruby's socially awkward, naive, and other things, she's probably the kindest of the character and the one who's the ideal Huntress: brave, kind, caring, and heroic. Overall: she's a traditional hero like Naruto or Luke Skywalker. Honestly, that's why she's my favorite character in RWBY as she wants to be a Huntress to help people, not for honor, redemption, glory, or adventure.

Yeah, and I can easily see her pretending to be a superhero
with the Adam West Batman theme playing in the background.
For me i've grown to think of Weiss as my favourite character
because I can relate to her feelings of isolation. Well that and
she seems like a person who can learn more from Friendship
than the other 7 main characters of the show.

Yes I am proudly speaking, and I have been spending this past half
year trying to figure plausible scenarios that both series could intersect
in a believable manner.
The answer came in the form of re-imagining the characters of RWBY
within the MLP: FIM universe. Which in my opinion has a LOT easier
than the other way around because there is enough established
material to work with.

Not gonna lie, it starts as a OCs in RWBY fic. Though I do change some of the canon characters backgrounds a bit over the course of the plot, I start to divert away from canon by creating new antagonists, story arcs (Ex. The Fifth Kingdom or Rise of a New Dawn Arc), make canon antagonists stronger, character development, and character death - like someone's gonna die at the docks in Vol.1. MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sounds very promising and ambitious, but please refrain from going overboard
in the dark and edgy department like most other contemporary fanworks.
Although I always found it easier to write stories with already established characters
to be honest, which is why I am creating a fusion fanfic of my own.^^

Oh, I already know that. To me, the best route when writing dark and edgy themes in RWBY is doing it similar to Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist. Making the event tragic and powerful, but not making it go overboard and destroying the charm of the characters I'm representing . Like there's a AU here where it glorifies the annoying/idiotic cliche (Jaune) and his team while making most RWBY into dark anti-heroes and Yang all depressed instead of developing them into the heroes they're meant to be. Basically, I'm gonna be loyal to the characters Monty created as much as I can while attempting to make his creation larger and stronger.
Well, yea, established characters are easier to write as we already know who they are. The problem in creating Original Characters is that they must be different, creative, and well written or else…or people just slap a Harem on their character and everyone loves it for no reason.

I know that all to well since I read lots of fanworks based around MLP: FIM,
the best ones use the logic you just stated when writing them. A great example
I can think of is MetalKitty's MLP Project, where the characters react to scenarios
the same way they would in the show.
Another idea I came up with is that an established character learns about a version
of themselves while in an alternate world.
To sum it up simply "what would Weiss do, in Twilight Sparkles hooves?".

Hai, there's actually an amazing story series called Savage Skies you may enjoy. While it does include OCs and dark themes, the canon characters reactions to the events are great, the story is incredibly thought out and well written.
