I feel a little badly for not being able to answer your questions sufficiently, but...
I didn't design the map, just rendered it, if that makes sense. A friend of mine sketched up the continent shape, defined the political borders, etc., told me where he wanted the rivers and mountains, and I turned his ideas into this final product.
As for the... odd tectonic geography/etc., part of it is supposed to be explained by the fact that the shape and geography of the continent was shaped by a... I guess you could say a magical meteor storm and the arrival of gods. So it's not entirely supposed to make natural sense.
(Although to be honest, I also had sort of an issue with his "rivers going all around to make islands" in the way you mentioned, but I figured it was his world and I'd do it his way, as he was paying me money )
Also, I'm not sure entirely where the equator is supposed to be on this map, nor do I know how close to the poles the southern and northern edges of the land are supposed to be, as the client didn't know exactly, either. I advised the client of some basic geography, but in the end neither of us cared enough to try to make it super "realistic" because 99% of people wouldn't know the difference.
That being said, I'm impressed whenever someone puts so much effort into accuracy and research when working on an artistic project, so kudos to you I figured out some simple geography for my own world map and went over it with a geography teacher (eg. where the equator would roughly be, the prevailing winds, roughly where tectonic plate borders may be, the effect of mountain ranges on climate, etc.), but as for exactly how all the microclimates and stuff would actually work in practice, I decided who cares? My world is also a fantasy world with lots of magical influences, so pretty much anything goes then

In that case, pass my comments on ho him please? I noticed that your map did indeed have a scale suitable to a single continent Mercator projection unless your globe is considerably smaller than Earth, so you have nothing to worry about

*nods* Yeah, Paruda is just a single continent :3
I'm sure he won't know XD I know more than he does regarding geography and cartography and tectonics and stuff :b

Thanks so much Although a lot of credit goes to AJ, as he's the original designer of the continent and whatnot - I just "shinied" it up and added labels

looks amazing! Your last map definitely helped me draw my own and make it look less crappy than my maps normally do, so thanks for doing these!
The shape kind of looks like an angler fish to me! I like seeing shapes in geographic formations

This is amazing I'm curious what fonts you used---or did you hand-write everything?

I hand wrote everything except for the font used for the bodies of water (eg. Sapphire Ocean) and the font used for major geographical regions (eg. Reyja).

Wow-this came out just as amazing as the first one you did...
You say non-living things are not your forte, but I beg to differ. These look so professional and realistic, and the detail is amazing.
Wonderful job!

Thank you very much!
Well, these maps aren't too difficult. I more meant, like... things like houses, cars, furniture, cloth texture, cityscapes... Blegh :S
