Description [100 Themes Challenge]
Seeing Red

And now for something completely different! Seriously, when was the last time I attended to the 100 Themes Challenge?

I've been having trouble focusing today after trying a couple free downloadable games that were recommended to me yesterday. One was "Eversion", the other "Yume Nikki". Both very interesting; both VERY disturbing.

They left such an impact that they inspired a future short story/game idea (psychologically deranged like each of its inspirations), which I'm tentatively calling Id. Perhaps in the unknown future, whenever I actually finish Shangri-La, I'll make this my next game project. For now, I'd rather focus on the things I have in front of me. That said, I needed to come up with a few personalities and draw out some character designs now or it'd get in the way of my current stuff.

Should be fun and f***ed up. Look forward to it in like 2013 or 2014 or somethng.

Now that this is taken care of, I can go back to Rain; simplistic, down-to-earth, not disturbing at all Rain.

And, sorry about the art. First time I'm drawing these people, so it's sketchy. Probably shouldn't even be posting this, but I thought it'd be fun. Maybe I'll deposit it in Scraps later.

It really is an interesting concept. And from this image, this will not be a pleasant story. Right off the bat, there are some questions. Who are the four? Why are two of them seemingly malevolent, while the other two seem admittedly unsure and shacken? And what is the significance of the color red? So many questions that I will be happy to ponder as it continues to plan and grow.

In relation to Shangri-la, both are equally ominous. But where as Shangri-la is open for being too open, where as Id is ominous in being too deep and dark. I don't know if that makes sense to you, but its the same as comparing The Mines of Moria to this story. Moria was ominous in being deep and dark, unsure of what is really concealed and waiting in the that dark place. Where as in Shangri-La, what is ominous is usual hidden in the deepest waters or the thickest mist. Again how deep and dark this secrets lie is unclear, but it would be worth seeing how deep these characters go despite how they might only conflit with each other on the way into these secrets.

Again, thank you for provoking these infinite thoughts

These characters looks pretty neat--I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with, especially if it's inspired by Yume Nikki. I loved that crazy game.

Never heard of Eversion, though. o_o *Looks into that*

Have you played Irisu Syndrome? It's creepy, but I adore that game. Hard at first, but then it's like crack. xD

As always, your drawings are great. I'm envious. (:

If I stare at it hard, it looks like those dots I see when I stare at a bright light...or the sun...for too long.
