Description
I know we were told just the other day there'd be an Arms character, thus invalidating this whole thing. But let me explain.

I drew this back in January, as my final predictions for Fighters Pass 2. I never posted it because I was planning to be all slick and share it when Nintendo finally announced a Direct. But then I was blindsided when they didn't announce the Direct. Left me really unsure when or if I should still post this. Especially, since I forgot Arms existed when I did this. XD

I've been sort of dreading that I'd get dozens of people going, "Well, it's already wrong 'cause there's no Arms character!" Or if I should maybe swap someone out for an Arms character. The latter feels a little disingenuous to my initial plan (as I did not predict, so I confess it's still a miss), but it might've saved me from some pretentious remarks. But I decided to just brace myself, and let what happens happen.

Hopefully, you'll spare me the unnecessary remarks as I obviously already know one of these is wrong by default. I'll turn off comments if people get unnecessarily snippy about it, but I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that.

With that out of the way: these were my final predictions as of late January 2020. Not my most wanted, but my most expected. If you want to see my most wanted, I drew that a while ago , and they're the same as before (and I got someone I wanted too!).

To go over each one individually:

Crash Bandicoot
I've actually never played any of his games, and never felt particularly strongly about him in general either, but I still think there's a very good chance he'll get in. He feels almost obvious (which, ironically, might be a knock against him). On this list, he's actually one of the ones I feel most confident about.

Rex
Admittedly, he IS my most wanted right now, but I still believe he's got a really good shot. Especially now, with Arms being confirmed for the next character. My thought is if Arms can be brought back into the spotlight for Smash, then Rex from Xenoblade 2 just had his chances go way up!

Arle Nadja
I confess I was a little taken in with the rumors of the time when I drew this. I do think she's got a good chance as she's very popular, and has a lot of moveset potential if the Smash team pools from both her Puyo Puyo and Madou Monogatari history. But I still feel less immediately confident now than I did when drawing this. Still, since Byleth could be removed from my most wanted after getting her in Pass 1, Arle would probably fill that slot as my next most wanted. So I'm rooting for her!

Eevee
Probably the weirdest pick, and the one I'd most consider pulling with the Arms character confirmed. That said, I absolutely believe there's a Pokemon in Pass 2. No doubt about it. Maybe it's more likely a Galar starter, but for the same reason I like that they picked Byleth over the House Leaders, not everyone who plays picks the same starter. I felt no excitement for Greninja or Incineroar's announcements because they weren't my starters. I think a more neutral, but still popular, Pokemon (like Mewtwo or Lucario) are just smarter, more accessible, options. I went with Eevee because of the recent boom in popularity it's had since Let's Go, solidifying it as almost a secondary mascot to Pikachu. Plus, I think it'd be cool and unique to give it a moveset where it can evolve once per stock depending on certain factors, to gain new moves or stats. It might be ambitious, but there's a lot of potential here, I think.

Frisk
Before that Sans Mii, I wouldn't have believed this either. I don't feel super confident about this one, but I won't be that surprised if it happens either. I just think this game is significant and popular enough, and the creator on good enough terms with Nintendo that it's possible and maybe even probable. Frisk could be interesting though, especially if they have two movesets (one peaceful, and one violent) to emulate the style of the original game.

Geno
After Ridley, K. Rool, and Banjo joined Smash Ultimate, I've felt certain that Geno is almost definitely in. He's the only other character people have been begging for since the Melee era that isn't already in. Plus Sakurai himself has wanted to include him in the past. Plus his whole character is about making wishes come true. I confess that while I love Mario RPG and dig this character, he was never one I was clamoring for. I always thought he seemed an odd choice. But after all the other super popular most wanteds finally got in, I've started kinda hoping for him for the sake of the Geno fans who wanted him for the last twenty years. I not only think he'll be in, I think he'll be the final one, to go out with a bang.

As a closing thought, I can't begin to guess the Arms character as I don't have any experience with the game. The next character being from that game but not specifically naming who it is seems suspicious, though. Smash usually gravitates towards the main character of a represented game (only typically delving beyond that when there's several reps), so Springman seems like the obvious pick here (after all, I don't really buy into the belief that his already being an Assist Trophy really discounts his chances; that's just a fan theory, not based on any official statement).

That said, if they do go with the obvious choice, why not just say so? Well, I haven't played Arms, but I feel like from people who have played it, Springman seems to be no one's favorite. I always hear him described as "plain" compared to literally every other character. Min-Min or Twintelle seem to be the more popular choices. It'd be kind of a surprising, but neat, twist if they skipped over the face of the game for a fan favorite!

But I can't help but think the fact that they showed a bunch of (all?) characters in the teaser might be a hint. Maybe it'll be like Hero, where the character is represented by a few of the more popular ones. Maybe Springman is still the face of the character, but you can play as a few of the others as alts (or at least one other as an Echo?) At least, that's what I think!
