Description
As you may or may not be aware, I am currently developing a game via RPG Maker MZ. It's called Save the Princess. Since I haven't really talked much about what this game is exactly (outside of a couple old, dated character doodles), let me just start with a basic synopsis. The idea is that we have this seemingly typical JRPG fantasy world. The princess of a kingdom has been kidnapped by a necromancer, and taken away to a distant tower to be sacrificed for the sake of reviving some Great Demon Lord. But all this happens just as the hero and his companions travel into town, whereupon they offer to take on the task of... saving the princess. It all sounds straightforward. And well, sort of yes but actually no.
The story is told in chapters. Each chapter will feature a new area or two, and a different character taking the spotlight (from the princess, to the hero, to the hero's individual companions, and even the necromancer and her henchmen). The different perspectives reveal unexpected secrets, feelings, and motives of all the characters and help to elaborate the world's lore and history. It is a game about saving a princess like the title implies, but there's a lot of other moving pieces to make it more interesting. Along the way, expect a lot of deconstruction of classic RPG tropes. Very human, relatable characters. Probably some laughs. Probably some tears. Queerness abound. The kinds of things you'd expect out of me.
Also, eight main playable characters. And now that the pitch is out of the way, talking about characters is what I'd like to focus on over the course of this month for my own mini OCtober . ^_^

Introducing Sabrina, the Princess
Sabrina is a very kind, upbeat person. Almost to a fault. She likes to do things herself, even when her servants are literally being paid to do these things for her - and even when she's not necessarily good at them herself. As such, Sabrina tends to have unkempt hair and overdone makeup. Sabrina's father, the king, might call it embarrassing. She might say it's part of her charm.
You might have thought the princess in a game called "Save the Princess", would be nothing more than a helpless damsel-in-distress. But she's actually quite strong and capable. Great aim with a bow. Good control over her magic. Very well learned when it comes to math and history. Maybe not the most skilled in interpersonal situations, as she can be prone to saying/doing things without thinking, but her heart's in the right place.
Sabrina does, however, get frustrated with the stupid and archaic customs her father and her country expect of her, though, and she never misses an opportunity to call it out. For example, she's not allowed outside the castle walls, and she will be forced to choose someone to marry on her 18th birthday from a selection of people she meets that very day.
Getting kidnapped might - ironically - be her ticket to the freedom she so desires!
Of course, nothing's that simple. Sabrina's still the captive of a necromancer, who means to use her in a ritualistic sacrifice. She's either got to find a way to make a break for it in a world she doesn't know and hope neither her father nor her captor find her, or she'll be marching to her doom. Again, she's no weakling and she's no fool. But she does lack any kind of real life experience. So she's going to have to play this smart if she wants to get out of this one.
