Okay, real talk: I'm not even into Animal Crossing. XD

From an outsider perspective, I always thought that Isabelle was a really adorable character. But beyond that, I just never got into those games. I am, however, very much into Smash Bros. And after last week's Nintendo Direct announced her inclusion to the roster of the upcoming Smash game, I just had to draw her.

This was a weird one to draw though, but in a good way. As someone who is otherwise not into the character's original source material, and tends to shy away from drawing non-human characters often in general, Isabelle here was actually a lot of fun to draw. There are a lot of characters in anime/games I'd want to do fanart of, but I struggle sometimes if they clash with my style in some way. To my surprise, I didn't feel that here (although doing this certainly pulled me out of my comfort zone a little). I wouldn't say she was super easy to draw, but I am really happy with how she came out. ^_^

Anyway, I've been pretty down lately, so when I drew this last week for Patreon , it was mostly meant as a little bit of a pick-me-up. Being honest, I'm still not doing much better right now (got a little worse in the last day), so I felt it was time to share it here. I wouldn't say the piece is making all my woes go away, but I find it hard to frown when looking at this. So, I hope Isabelle's charming smile can bring a little cheer into your day as well.

Also, I hope it doesn't sound like I'm fishing for sympathy and attention. That's not the point. Rather, I just want to be open about how I'm feeling right now. There's been things going on and I've been hit with some emotional punches to the gut very recently. If I've been kinda quiet lately (or if you're wondering where Rain is), this is a part of why. I'm a big girl though, and I will get through this. So with that said, I don't really want pity. If you want to offer some encouragement, share your thoughts on the drawing instead; that would mean the most to me right now.

As for Rain, it's still coming. Probably very soon. Maybe with two updates a week for a little bit while I deal with some things, but I want you to know I am now and will always be doing my best. For me, and for you all.
