Spidey! This is beautiful. Your ability to capture the deepest darkest corners of your mind onto "paper" is just... boundless.

Looks like it could have been an illustration form the The Hobbit. Nice old school feel to this. Almost like the style of line art they use for novels marketed to youth. where every 20 pages is a picture.

I love that you think that. These were originally created for exactly that purpose. I was attempting to illustrate Terry Brooks' Shannara novels in that particular tradition

I love the detail in this.
What was you inspiration?

Thank you. It was inspired by the Wisteron, which is like a giant spider/monkey like creature, from the Shannara books.

Awesome picture. I am reading the Elf Queen of Shannara right now. I got the impression the Wisteron wasn't a giant spider though.

Yes, I think it you're right. It was a sort of monkey spider type creature (It's a long time since I read the book). This is just a personal interpretation

Love the relief effect you've achieved with the ink, a very effective medium for a portrayal such as this...

I adore his books. I did these a long time ago, back when I was a student, then coincidentally my first professional job involved assembling his covers. I'm surprised there isn't more shannara art around here. The stories are wonderful and make great subjects.

this would make an awesome print. Ever think of doing a lino cut or wood or copper plate print? Good work by the way

I actually did this a very long time ago when I was at college and I did experiment with copper but I was much more confident with ink. I think I'd need a lot of practice to try something like that
