She's a member of the lost Iconii race, possibly the last of her kind. She was a prisoner of the E'glaratha-ta when they attempted to invade the Earth and the Sol System. She was liberated, when theE'glaratha-ta commander was killed and his ship disabled. The Iconii have the ability to ghost through matter by slipping slightly out of phase with the universe. Some speculate than they entered the Astral Plane, to do so, hence the name she uses as a member of Vanguard.
