Description
So I did most of the artwork seen here as a commission, and decided "Hey, I could turn this into another digi card!" So I did. And now that I've done two of them, there's a good chance I'll end up doing the whole Rebels cast....as many of you have requested. But only between working on POM and CW Resolutions!Related content

very, very cool! still hesitant to check anything out "Rebels" wise (after my disappointments in TCW-though I still liked it as a whole), but this more rickety droid equipped with a rocket boost is an all too familiar reminder of something a wise smuggler once said, "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid!"

Thank you! I'm nervous about Rebels, too...but we can hope, right?

The new R2-D2, but he's a different kind of astromech. If I could do my own Star Wars story from an original cast of characters, I'd make an astromech droid named Little Beeper. He'd be like R2-D2, but while R2 was blue and white and silver, Beeper is black and gray.

btw joe what did you study? Graphic design? Pure hardcore digital art? Animation?

JoeHoganArt In reply to TheOnly1Zalo [2014-05-27 00:39:49 +0000 UTC]
Cartooning, actually! All the digital illustration and animation I do is self-taught, I went to school to make comics! That probably explains why I'm so nuts about making motion comics, it's a fun blend of all the things I love to do!

My pleasure! Mostly internet tutorials and how-to videos on YouTube. There's a ton of great tutorials here on DA. I've pretty much chosen what I've found to be the best methods that work for me (there are a lot!) and kinda smushed them all together into my workflow. Lots of trying stuff out of my comfort zone, lots of practice, lots of repetition! But now a lot of it is second nature, and I can space out while I do the heavy lifting, leaving me free to focus on the creative decisions and problem solving of each piece!
I also took a big risk and bought a Cintiq. I call it a risk because it's a huge investment, but it paid off. I love it a thousand times more than any drawing tablet (I HATED using drawing tablets) because I much prefer to look at the drawing where my stylus is, and not draw on a tablet but look elsewhere at a screen. Ugh! haha

Well I get that, I wanted to become a digital artist, but getting used to a tablet is very hard. Man, those things cost thousands and I thought a wacom tablet was already expensive :/

Yeah, dude. But believe me, worth it. Steep investment, but mine has paid for itself many times over...and I wasn't doing this professionally when I got one! The curve of my improvement after I got one was CRAZY! Lots of improvement very quickly, but I worked super hard!
