Description
Playing some more with "ULTIMATE Grass & Meadow Worldbuilder" in DAZ Studio and Iray. This time I experimented with adding some trees from "Iray Worlds-Plus" and lighting everything with "Iray Ghost Light Kit 2". No post workRelated content

Thank you, I had no idea for this image when I started. I just wanted to see if I could combine some trees with the grassy meadow. Then I started adding things and a little story started to emerge. Making it a night scene really made things a lot more interesting

Thank you, I had everything in daylight, but it seemed boring. SO I shut off all the light and used ghost lights to selectively light everything and it added so much more interesting things

Nice Work, Those Ghost Light Kits work well lighting just where you need it

Thank you, That is what I love about ghost lights, You can put them where ever you need them and not have to work about them showing the emitter in the scene. Plus I still don't understand why it makes things render so much faster than regular lights. It only took 5 min to render this scene at twice this size.

You're welcomed Joe, what I like also is that there's no shadows produce by them or reflections

Thank you, I had everything is full sunlight until near the end of the process, but everything seemed to lack any emotional punch. So I turned off all the lights and added a few ghost lights to create a mood by selectively lighting elements. It hid most of the details, but really changed the whole scene dynamics to something much more interesting.
I am really liking the "Grass & Meadow Worldbuilder" so far, but am still figuring out how it works. I have only been using the presets so far. Thank god there are a ton of them

Fantastic use of lighting here to set the mood! Nothing good is going to come of this bargain. Love the posing and atmosphere on this one. With her and the dragon's postures I almost get the impression she's the one in the position of authority here, or really good at faking it. What was the story in your head when putting it together?

Thank you, It all started out as a day scene to see if I could add some trees to the grass landscape. Then I add building and the lady. It felt really bland with everything in sunlight, so I shut off all the light and added some ghost lights to create some moody night lights. I also had a wolf in the dragons position up until the very end, when I thought a spik dragon might be better. It seemed a lot more dangerous, but covered up all my initial details. So i really didn't have a story in mind until I picked the title at the very last thing. Then all sorts of stories presented themselves. Somehow she does feel more dominant to me too, but I love your idea that she is good at faking it

Oh yeah!! I really like this! (As you know I'm a fan of the cinematic look)
That lighting turned out nicely - coincidentally I'm just trying to do night scene now but mine is coming out too blue I think, you seem to have it just right.
That grass system looks awesome from what I've seen in your renders so far, I might have to put it on my wish list.

Thank you, I tried this as a day scene and it felt really bland so I turned off all the light and added some ghost lights to make it more moody. I always need practice with night scenes, because they seem to either turn out too dark or to have artificially too much light.
I love the grass and environment in your images, how do you get such great realistic results?

Oh, yes, pchef was right, the extra fill light on the dragons head makes a big difference.

To be honest, I don't really know!! It sounds stupid because I don't know an awful lot about the software, but I set up the scene then add lights until I think it looks right. It seems to take forever because (if it doesn't crash my computer) I'll set the viewport to 'Nvidia Iray' mode and then turn the light strength up if it needs it, and then turn it up again, and again, then tint the color, again and again...
Once that is pretty close I'll render and then adjust levels in PS if I have to.
I must be lucky as well though, since the image I'm about to post came out way better than I expected because of the fog camera I added - I didn't even need any postwork but I adjusted it slightly anyhow.

beautiful lady but you should add indirect light on the dragon to add contrast with the house behind

That's a nightscene I like.
I find Nightscenes more challenging than other lightng setups, so they look natural but also bright enough to reveal what's going on. And you nailed it here.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I always find night scenes to be the hardest things. They always feel too bright, but I want to see what is going on. I painted myself into a corner when I left the dragon black. The ghost lights helped a lot with the selective lighting
