Those crowds are a lovely detail, really works well.
Fantastic atmosphere.

Thank you, the idea when I started this scene was to make some ghost light presets for the the "MICK-Bundle"'s Great hall. The preset scenes in the "MICK-Bundle" take forever to render with the default lights. So I wanted to make some presets I could just save and use over and over. I added the atmosphere to try and scatter the light, but it really just added the noise back in.

Love the atmospherics, Joe. Well, I love the entire piece, but I like the effect the AtmoCam and the Ghost Light offers. At least I assume those are the culprits. The entire piece looks beautifully aged and painterly.

Then the room felt so empty and I though I could get away with creating a simple crowd since the camera angle was in one of the dark nooks

Thank you, I couldn't figure out who to put on the stairs and finally settled on these two. I like the idea that she requires some sort of tribute to ascend the stair case

It's a good job you got carried away! And the crowds have added so much to the image as well.
Yes I noticed the promo renders of the hall in the MICK bundle were really badly pixelated due to no light or too short a render time.

I also tries using "AtmoCam for Iray" to try to scatter the light and it wound up just adding noise to the cleanliness of the ghost lighting

Thank you, I was concerned that it might be too dark, but I wanted that candle lit feeling. I love using the "M.O.M Crowd Generator", since they are just planes with images on them I could create a 400 + crowd with no real hit to memory usage. Because I used the Ghost lights this only took 15 min to render

The "M.O.M. Crowd Generator" sounds interesting if it uses just planes with images on them. Then it must be possible to put any image on them? Can you give a quick list of your work so that I can see how the Crowd Generator was used? I'd like to look closer. EDIT. Or better yet, can I just see where you used instances of animals only (not people).

The "M.O.M. Crowd Generator" is really old. I picked up way back when I was still using Poser. Unfortunately it is made just for crowds of people. All the panels are made from one texture with 50 different characters in it. In this experiment I was lazy and just rendered on eleven warrior in 10 different rotations and then placed them randomly in the 50 different potions in the source material. Then in DAZ I used different grouping patterns to make them feel a little more random.Someday I will have to try the new Now Crowd Billboards in DAZ, they seem a lot more flexible

Okay, so no application for animal instances, bummer.
