Description
Playing with "Old Japanese Town Edo Vol.5" in Daz Studio and Iray. I was also playing with rendering a HDR image by combining three renders (ISO 25, 100,400) using Photoshop's "Merge to HDR pro" feature.Related content

Thank you, This was one of my first experiments of trying to render a scene at several exposures to make an HDRI image to bring out some of the details in the shadow areas. I also loved the idea of the simple peaceful warrior facing a heavy armored aggressive opponent

Well the way they stand against each other you start to wonder if she has some kind of hidden power.

Yes, Japan is something special and unique. Now it just happened by chance and it was really awesome , but not cheap (I don't dare to look at the credit card statement).

I think she will too. I liked the contrast between her simple outfit and all the complicated armor of her opponent. Also the way she was in the light and he was in darkness.

This is quite epic, would you mind if I wrote something taking inspiration from this?
I really love the lighting and setting you've chosen and it's given me a good many ideas.
I'd of course link back to the original and give full credit for the inspiration.

Thank you, It would be great to read what you write based off this for inspiration. It started out as just a test of the environment and I tried a bunch of different ideas until I stumbled on this composition. Then I started to get all sort of ideas on what the back story could be

Into Japanese themes at the moment. Cherry blossom is great. Why do I think she will kick his bamboo arse?

Love this... but why is his sword so curved? Katanas aren’t that curved right?

Thank you, It's the sword samurai use when mounted, it's more curved than a regular katana

Ok that’s something new I’ve learnt. Looked more like ‘tulwars’ to me. I think Conquistadors used extremely long swords right?

i think most Calvary swords are curved because otherwise they get stuck. I also just used it because it was the sword that came with the armor in "Kibamusha for Genesis 2 Male(s) and DAZ Horse 2"

vegetation is always a great addition
atmosphere too
I have these "fast fog" props also somewhere in my runtimes, though I haven't used them much.
Now I'm inspired to change that!

Thank you, I learned a lot about combing different renders to get a higher dynamic range of tones in the final images.

Interesting, was it intentional for it to be a little bit blurry? The blur makes it look almost like a photo.

JoePingleton In reply to sfontain097 [2018-04-01 04:31:04 +0000 UTC]
I tried to mimic the blurriness that a camera's depth of field gives a photo. I may have used too much

sfontain097 In reply to JoePingleton [2018-04-02 14:00:53 +0000 UTC]
Wow, well it works nicely, also because the human eye only has so much resolution so that also lends itself to a little blurriness.
