he's a good comedian but if your highly familiar with the late, great comedian Bill Hicks, you can tell he gets a lot of his style from him, even some near-miss quotes from the infamous Hicks.

Come on, man. I can definitely see Leary ripping from Hicks, but CK is a stretch. I love both of them, and yes, I am very familiar with Hicks (actually have an illustration I started of him that I need to finish).

well yea it was a stretch to be honest, they are both great comedians though. I just noticed too many small similarities in his delivery of his material, still freaking hilarious and original though. I would love to see that illustration. I saw your work on that one of George Carlin and it was great. looking forward to it if you end up posting it on here.

Love Patrice. I saw him and Burr together and it was insane. Something about Louie though. There's this extra layer to his humor.

don't get me wrong. love louis. i just wouldn't pay to see him. burr is probably the only comic alive i'll pay to go see at the moment. that probably says more about me than my tastes, cause i love other comics but only burr can get me to leave my humble abode.
i once went to a tough crowd taping: patrice, attel, lewis black and someone else was there. patrice was friendly to the people outside and told people he'd go out with them after the show, etc. dude was nice as hell.
worst part about patrice is he shot himself in the foot so much that there's very little of his material out there. if it wasn't for O&A we'd have next to nothing with that guy's genius.

Yeah, but that's why I loved the shit out of Patrice... He didn't give two fucks about stepping on people's toes if he didn't vibe with them. He didn't dance around anything. I've heard stories where he just talked shit right to TV executives faces if he didn't agree with them. I'm glad to have known about him and have seen first hand how crazy good of a comedian and just a smart dude in general he is.
With Louie, he has this sort of existential way of explaining things that makes him extremely funny and entertaining to me. There's really only a few comedians out there that can grab my attention, and coincidentally, they're pretty much all from Boston; it's got nothing to do with them being hometown heroes to me either, it just happens to be the case. Products of their environment I guess.

i plan on seeing burr in boston. hoping in his hometown he'll be funny. i feel the same way about most of those boston comics.
heard those stories on an O&A episode via youtube. one was him badmouthing comedy central execs for putting on mind of mencia when he was supposed to be pitching his own show. another was him realizing no one in the room liked him and he just started pointing it out rather than play the game.
I'm no longer a huge O&A fan but this is worth listening to if you hadn't heard it. this is the first part of four. It's just several comics trading stories about Patrice. [link]

Killer work, man. You really nailed his likeness. Louie's one of my favorites, up there with Brian Posehn and Patton Oswalt. I wish Louie would come to our city, but there's not really any venue that would be good. Got to see Posehn last month though; that was pretty great!
