My friend Seth had suggested doing Stevie Wonder in an illustration... so I said "why not?"The reference I used is kinda old school, so most people probably won't recognize him at first. (He kinda looks like J. J. from Good times or Dre from Outkast, depending on how you look at him).
Ah well, I have a few other layouts that I may or may not post of this illustration.

Do you use a Wacom or anything like that when drawing? I've begun drawing some (you can see my first here: [link] ) but it's a VERY time consuming proces for me. How long do you usually use on a single piece?

Well Stevie was done all in Adobe Illustrator... A friend of mine wanted me to render him, so I used a photo reference, and I just use a mouse and the pen tool and work my way up with flat color shapes. I would say this particular one took about 3-4 hours spread out across a few days. That's what sucks about my schedule, I don't have enough time in a day to work straight through. The background was done in Photoshop, which didn't take too long because I had the idea thought up already.

3-4 hours is pretty fast ... guess I just have to draw some more of these to get up to speed with it

I recognized this immediately as Stevie Wonder. The colors are so gorgeous and the almost sepia-tone help to convey that perfect, good time feel of the 70s.

I love Stevie Wonder!!! By far my favorite artist. I have never purchased anything from the Prints section of the site, but I want this!!! Seriously. I actually want a printed and signed version!!! If you could make that possible for me sir, I would be eternally grateful!!!
