Sorta over-stimulated right now... I had a bunch of half-done sketches and this was the product of one of them... The ever-so-lovely Erykah Badu in a sorta goddess-type state (she already sorta is, but I just exaggerated on it a little bit).I found a pic on her myspace page that I dug, and I drew it out on paper first to get a feel for what I wanted to do (I might post that too), and then just re-drew it in Illustrator alongside the pic.
Semi-inspired by my Boots Riley joint. I just fucking love drawing fros.

How many layers did you use for this one? Im in an illustrator class myself and jus learning the basics. I doubt my school can teach as much you know! All your vector art rocks!

Hmm... Good question! In terms of actual layers in the layers palatte, this is all done on one layer. But I use transparencies and create a bunch of shapes overlapping each other, and adjust the transparency and opacity to get the look I want. There's probably a little over 100 shapes in this piece.
