Based on a scene from "The Moonstone Cup " by Cyanide . "Moonstone" follows Twilight as she is invited to participate in the Moonstone Tournament - an annual competition of the most powerful magic users in the world (unicorns, dragons, griffins, etc).This story is a fine example of action done right - "Moonstone" features some of the most exciting and beautifully crafted battle scenes I have ever read - they were so well written that I could visually them happening like an animation. Throw in some excellent character development and world building, and this is one story that every action/adventure genre fan should check out. "The Moonstone Cup" is easily one of the fanfics that I recommend most often.
About the pic - this is easily the most complicated picture I've drawn, simply due to the sheer number of paths and shapes in the image. I found several tutorials while working on this image, and while they really added some nice effects to the image, Illustrator was barely able to keep up. Towards the end, it was taking 30-45 seconds to save the image

The story is one of my favorites because it showcases just how amazing Twilight is. Combining her special talent of Magic with her Element of Magic, is it any wonder she's probably going to be the most powerful being in Equestria? She'll probably one day surpass Celestia and Luna, especially now that she's been given the chance.

I apologize so much, but all I can see is the dragon's pose in the background and there's this voice in my head screaming TROGDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!

To date, Moonstone is probably my favorite fanfic. Especially since this is how the story opened. No build up, no opening sequence, nothing. Just "Once upon a time, Twilight was roughly three seconds away from flame-broiling a gigantic dragon alive".
That's how you grab a potential reader's attention
