Description
Colony 15 / System 5541 / Moon XB671515 665 AD
Level 2 Alarm - possible impact of medium sized asteroids.
Yesterday the 2nd smallest moon broke due to a volcanic unstability. Probably caused by the rare material we've found here as well. The biggest pieces should avoid our moon completely and before the next full cycle our 'asteroid-defence' fleet will dispatch area and clear the most dangerous rocks.
Looks like life here has more to show us than we've thought. Wierd storms, beautiful sunrises and some strange interaction of that still unknown material with the sunlight. It's like an aurora coming up from the grass every morning. Main planet, which holds 6 moons seems to be plain rock and ashes. On the other hand - our moon seems completely habitable - there is just that thing with local fauna - there isn't any. Flora seems to be pretty evolved here though. This place just still holds too many secrets.

4000x2800px (smaller piece)
About 200 layers
6 hours (+10 hours of rendering - but that was long time ago - I found this terragen render on my PC and decided to finally use it)
Ships and that big asteroid were done in 3DSMAX and than overpainted in PS
Terrain rendered in terragen
All the rest done in PS (yes - even the buildings)

This is very creative, I like it a lot, I just think that it would be even better if those hmmm foggy effects toward the top of the mountains were blended in better, and I'm wondering what is that on the very top of the picture, there are some lines that for me aren't clear, but I don't know what it is. I hope that you don't get me wrong, but since this is a very good, I wish that I could see it in an ever better condition.

Well hmm no not the ring around the planet, but above it on the picture, the very top of the picture, some lines or smudges, or stains, like hm smoke around the clouds, maybe I don't see what it's supposed to show there...

The largest planet came out quite realistic is that a massive asteroid to the left of it? or just a huge, far-off mountain

Yup - it's a piece of that recently broken moon.

I think I was ought to write something back then but my massive degree of drunkness must have forced me to do something stupid.
Really sorry mate.
