Description
For an art challenge with some friends it was decided we would all do something from our childhood. I picked link as I LOVE the legend of Zelda and I always wanted to see him more "badass". So this is my version of a New Link.Hope you like it.
I want to thank everyone for the wonderful support and kind words! The DD was amazing!

Looks like a rogue. Not necessarily a bad thing but the whole mouth completely covered by tunic seems to be a bit unpractical. Remember that every time a door locks behind him he has to look at it over his shoulder XD. But nice tone and theme. Definitely like the details!

I like the natural feel this piece has--almost as if I could see Link like this in a gritty, realistic Zelda game. I like the fact that while the mood is real, he still has that lit up, bright expression in his eyes, rather than mature, grim Link. The use of natural and supernatural (artificial? XD) light also adds to how Link connects natural setting with the fantasy setting.
Overall, a well-deserved daily deviation. Stellar work! (:

If Link were a prince that grew up in the Castle, instead of (ever) being the poor farm-boy who grows up to save the world, I could easily imagine him looking like this. Love the new portrayal of such an iconic figure (and one of my faves!!!)!!!!!
I've been wanting to make a realistic Link portrait for the -longest- time. Seeing stuff like this just keeps telling me that I -have- to sit down at work on it. Thank you for the inspiration!!!!!!!

This demonstrates such advanced restraint. Bravo on the unique and dramatic lighting, most artists would not have had the discipline to light it so boldly.

Yeah, overall he does look like a character who does a lot of traveling yet does some dangerous battles. Grant, I'm not an expert in medieval clothing and armor, but it does look like something Link (at least Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, A Link to the Past, original, & II would wear.)
