for me, this one speaks of the closeness of mother and child........and the child's hands look relaxed giving a feeling of sanctuary, safety in an otherwise crowded place. And then I focus on his face and see contemplation...... he seems to feel safe enough to be deep in thought.

I love your narrow d.o.f. and the contextual background but personally I would crop in a little on the right (about half way across the width of the man's head) just to add more emphasis to the main characters.
