Contains minor spoilersOkay, knowing the nature of Wonderbolt episodes, this is never going to happen. Still, I can't do anything but hope that Soarin will actually stand up for Dash during episode 7. Here's to hoping for more SoarinDash moments!

Don't worry... every episode guarantees a happy ending (apart from two-parters). And who knows, maybe the Wonderbolts will be the best of buds after this episode. You just have to think about all the things you want out of the episode, and get hyped doing so. Β

Unfortunately, with Rarity Investigates in mind, I'm inclined to agree with you. Even though we feel that he'd be the most understanding, chances are he'd be apart of it. Mostly because it'd probably take away from the episode's lesson if he wasn't.

I don't see why he would stand up for her, considering he was the first to jump down her throat with baseless accusations during "Rarity Investigates!" That episode proved Soarin's kind of a prick, all things considered.

I know, I'm expecting the same. When I created this, it was more of a 'what if' scenario, and that's what I truly meant when I said "This is never going to happen" in the description. Then again the episode hasn't aired yet, so we wouldn't know.

As I've mentioned before, I'm pretty sure the writing staff wouldn't kick Dash from the Wonderbolts the episode she got in, for fear of upsetting the fan base.

yeah it's true. i still wonder why didn't they blame. all crime dramas say everyone present is a suspect. Thought despite that episode, Soarin still seems to be the "best one" in personality.

Well the thing is, RD was the most probably suspect, despite all that she's done. She's the only one with a motive (in the eyes of the Wonderbolts) and she's technically not even one of them. The only other suspect is a long time veteran who is well known throughout the Wonderbolts, probably friends and a mentor to most of them, and generally looked up to as an idol. I could go into real world examples here, but I think that'd be off topic.
So even if everyone present is a suspect, Rainbow would have no chance against WindRider.

How was that abysmal showing of anything Dash has ever learnt good? of course you realise that saying good is the unpopular opinion since it's already been found out that what they did was hazing, which inrl can lead to death or rape.

I am as well, it's really the only real joy I'd receive from watching this episode.
It was the same with Rarity Investigates as well, and we got a heck ton of shipping fuel (depending on how you look at it) there. I'm sure it'll be the same with this one.

Rarity Investigates was my favorite episode from S5, next to Amending Fences. I was NOT expecting the Wonderbolts to appear in Ratity Investigates, but boy was I happy when they did appear. Especially Soarin-I really love his character. Of course there was that moment where he went all out against RD, but since it was all a misunderstanding, I don't really mind it.Β
I expect a good amount of shipping fuelΒ in Newbie Dash, even if it's just hints.

I'm hoping for him standing up for Dashie as well. Out of all the Wonderbolts we've met, he seems to be the less likely to act as a bully on her, though it's possible that he may join the nickname calling out of peer pressure, or not even noticing how this is hurting her. As Big Jim wrote in a tweet once Rarity Investigates aired, Wonderbolts are jerks, after all! I'm hoping for the best, though, since I do believe that now that she's part of the team, she will make them all become better ponies, just like she did to Spitfire.
During Rarity Investigates, Soarin seemed kinda concerned about Rainbow's behavior, with all her cute silly dances, fangirlishment and stuff. Maybe it's foreshadowing how she needs to mature a little since she is joining an aerial elite force, and maybe this new episode will deal with this theme. Whatever happens, however, it's probably making them become closer as friends and as a team, and everything will probably be fine in the end.

I agree, and though I'm quite torn about it, I'm pretty sure he is going to be apart of the name calling. Hopefully it's as you said, that he doesn't realize he's hurting her rather than being intentional. At least then it could lead to a lesson and increase their friendship by episode's end.
I do have to point out that Rarity investigates contradicts your point about being the least likely to bully, which I totally believe, but is also the reason why I think he'd be in on it. We all thought that he would've let her off in RI after all the favors she's done for him, only for him to apparently forget about all of that. But we've already discussed this topic, haven't we?
But you're probably right. No matter the situation, they will most likely grow from the experience. I'm sure this episode will be jam packed with SoarinDash moments!

Yeah, I was heartbroken in Rarity Investigates when he was so though on her. But as it's been discussed a lot already, he had no choice at that moment. Rainbow did put herself in a difficult situation with her huge celebrity crush on Wind Rider. The other Wonderbolts wanted her out of the team and Soarin as the one in charge at least gave her a chance to prove her innocence.
Wonderbolts are a militarish team after all, that's why they usually act like jerks, strict, no soft and not caring about how other ponies are feeling, even without meaning to hurt them. And that's why I totally agree with you that this is the reason why he may probably join the nickname thing.
It will actually be interesting to see where are they going with Soarin's character development. I've seen a lot of people in the fandom treating him like just that goof/pie-crazy/pushover pony, but after RI, he proved he can be a strong leader to the Wonderbolts when needed. Let's see how he will be handled in Newbie Dash, if he does have a prominent role in the episode.
And yessss, the most important is that, shippy or friendshippy, we'll probably get lots of new soarindash moments! And Dash is going to be a Wonderbolt now, so those two are going to see eachother a loooot... and just thinking about it makes me smile ^^

Exactly this. Once again, I completely agree with all that was stated. I really liked Soarin's role in RI, even with that controversial act of his, and I can't wait to see what the show writers have in store in Newbie Dash!

Whenever the Wonderbolts are concerned, the possibility of SoarinDash moments is always there. I'm sure we could twist some moments our way regardless. It's really all about how you interperate it, Rarity Investigates being a good example.

I've noticed her constant change in personality as well. I felt like the change in attitude during Wonderbolts Academy was justified, as she had to pull off a "Drill Sargent look" to see who was qualified or not. During TBNE and RI, she was surrounded by other high class/important ponies, and I assumed her change here was more for public appearance; a guise for show. I have no idea about Rainbow Falls.
I absolutely adore her voice as well, at least at certain times. She has a tendency to change voices as well. Love it during TBNE and RI.

Still, one of my wishes for the Rarity Investigates episode was an apology to Dash for the way she was treated (I mean c'mon, we didn't even get a simple "sorry"!). I'm glad that's finally coming back up. Honestly, I think it's long overdue.
