Finally! I started digital painting several months ago, and guess what one of the first pics I started was? Yup, this. Well, it was a bit much for a first-timer, so I had some learner's-shock, and procrastination didn't help. So it's done much later then I wanted, and I cut down on stuff to save time, but I'm so glad it's finally here!This is fan-art for chill13 . On the left is her character Flyspur from her story Hi Ho, Hyperdrive . (Take a look if you haven't yet, it's a fun story!) On the right of course is Spock from Star Trek. Both of them are amongst my favorite characters. They're both very logical guys. But another thing they have in common that I like is their cool looking eyebrows! Spock with his up-swept eyebrows, and Flyspur and his double eyebrows. So that's what this pic is about. But some other things they have in common is cool shaped ears, being first-mates of a starship crew, and the color blue—Flyspur's skin and Spock's uniform. Both Spock and especially Flyspur are just total coolness!!

Oh cool! I wonder why the logical ones are always in blue. Even in Alvin and the Chipmunks the smart one dressed in blue.

Wow!! I can't believe how amazing this is! Especially for one of your first digital paintings! Your line work is great and you have some nice shading in there too!
I LOVE this so much! The parallels are great! Spock is actually one of the inspirations for Flyspur. While he is certainly not emotionless he is Rover's logical advisor, like Spock is for Kirk. And I love the eyebrows and ears, they both really are known for them. These two would get along very well. I'm sure they would swap Captain stories.

Yeah, I would love to see Spock and Flyspur interact! I could imagine both of them ganging up on one of their captains at some point, trying to advise them against an illogical course.XD

"Well, good. I knew you folks had it in you.". Rover crossed his arms looking quite pleased with himself.
Flyspur: "I really dint think that's what they meant."

Scotty: "Aye, Laddie. The Klingons are one of the Federations greatest enemies. Ye cannae expect to have peaceful contact with them. Surely you've come across bad eggs like that in your time, Captain Finnigan, haven't ya?"

Rover waved a mechanical hand as if it was completely unimportant. "Aw sure. But you can't let em bully you. Some of em aren't so bad once you learn their lingo. Sometimes you just got to holler right back at em. Even a bad egg can be soft boiled."

Kirk: "Yes. but I'm not sure I'd like the taste." *the room tumbles with a 'boom' and everyone staggers a bit and red alert sounds out* Sulu: "Looks like the Klingons are tired of waiting, sir." Kirk: "That's their lingo; let's holler back. If you still want to sell something to them, Captain Finnigan, you'd better think fast." Chekov: "Looks like we're going to have to soft boil them, Captain..."

Rover climbed back to his feet a scowl of determination on his face. It wasn't about selling something anymore. It was a challenge. He waved at the room in general, at anyone with information. "Gimme a rundown on 'em. What do they want? What do they like? What do they admire?" He snapped his fingers in rapid succession at anyone who was willing to talk to him. The shooting was starting in litteraly seconds and this tiny window was his only chance.

After a brief moment Spock spoke from his station: "Klingons are a warrior species, a military force to be reckoned with. They take great pride in their culture which values, above all, honer and combat."

Rover gave a quick nod and rubbed his hands together. "Military. Honor. Combat. Got it. Gimme one shot at this. I may be able to get this thing done peaceful like. You get your thing ready in case this doesn't work. Can I get the fellah on screen?"

Kirk nodded. "Uhura, open a channel." "Yes sir" Then she continued: "Audio only, sir." Kirk: "Captain of the Klingon vessel. We have held our fire because we think there might be a chance for peace. We have a uh... a trader who would like to speak with you if you are willing to listen to him." After a long pause the screen finally lit up with the face of the Klingon captain. "Let your trader speak."

Rover nodded his thanks at Kirk, then fixed a scowl at a spot on the wall. "WHAT IN TARNATION YOU THINK YOU'RE DOIN', YOU OVER-GROWN YELLOW-BELLIED BULLIES?!" He shouted with all the furious insolence he could muster, much to the horror of the Enterprise crew.

The Klingon cocked his head back a bit with a look of indignation star started to intensify. But soon a narrow smile developed on his face. He nodded in approval. "You have our attention."
(I just gotta say. Way to go Rover!!!!
Also can't decided who the Klingon captain is yet. Kor? Just a new random Klingon? Who do you think?)

"Good!". Rover gave a stiff nod. "Now I heard me a heap of mighty impressive gossip about Klingons! They're mighty, fearless warriors! They have a sense of honor to beat the band!". He paced back and forth in front of the view screen as he spoke, his coat tails swishing behind him. "But from what i'm'a seein' here that's all it was. Gossip!"
