Okay, as the title says, this comic is (sort of) based on a true story.
My father is an avid fisherman, with years of experience.
And yet, one day, he actually managed to leave the house in the morning, spend the whole day at his favorite fishing spot, drive back home, take a shower and eat dinner WITH A FISHING HOOK STUCK ON HIS BACK.
Granted, it was the smallest fishing hook I've ever seen in my life, but it still baffles me that he actually thought it was a tiny cut on his back.
Oh, yeah. And there's Markipony again, referencing Drunk Minecraft. XD
IMPORTANT EDIT: Markiplier pony was created by TheDarkDash . Okay, I should've added this way before I even pondered submitting this comic to EQD. But I never imagined that it'd be accepted, and I'm still new to this whole creating stuff for a fandom and crediting people. I honestly feel like a jerk, now. I saw several Markiplier fans here, so please, guys, give TheDarkDash the credit he deserves.^^
IMPORTANT EDIT #2: It was featured on Equestria Daily . And according to TBWinger92 , this might well be the first GMOD/SFM comic to be featured there. *mindblow* O.o

well TBH ive had several small and large accidents leaving my body pierced (seriously not intentional im just accidental i guess) and small ones like fishing hooks are hard to notice. depending on location. (your back is remarkably unresponsive therefore a fishing lure would be hard to notice... it also works on the precision of the cut.... a cut made by a breadknife would hurt a shitton more than a filleting knife. because the filleting knife dont cut through as many nerves as the bread knife. also your back has alot less pain reseptors compared to the front.

this hook reminds me of the referrence to spongebob squarepants who was at jellyfish fields messing around with those hooks and had to remove all his clothes

It reminds me of a story I've heard but then it was a (drunk) friend of my father and a knife in the neck. Nurse Redhearts reaction even matches the nurse in my story...

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's true but it's certainly possible. Wouldn't be that odd for the town itself either, the police is so understaffed that most crimes aren't even investigated.
That reminds me of another story of a guy that was robbed twice in two weeks, the police didn't have time to check it out and a few days later he's stopped by the police for speeding... It's kinda messed up.
Don't worry though, the town is actually very safe. These kind of things rarely happen, it's just with such a small town there is always such a huge fuzz about everything that happens.

Referring to the actual story, I'm actually not surprised too much. The nerves on our back are not very high resolution couple that with sometimes people losing the flexibility to comfortably reach all of their back I can see it happening. That said it is still a little silly and I hope no infection came of it.

Thankfully, it was a brand-new hook, so he didn't get an infection.
Still, I applied a medicine on that cut, just to be sure.

I kept having problems placing the lamp because of the size of this room. For some reason, to me the lighting looked a bit too "fake", or unnatural.
But yeah, one ofthe issues I need to address is the lighting.

What with frequently flying into things or electrocuting herself, Derpy probably has developed a rather high level of pain resistance...

Yeah, I only had two maps that had hospitals on them. And one was a zombie map.
That's one of the things I need to address: "scene building". The only thing I added to this was that little pager on the coffee table.

It wasn't 'til he asked my mom to see what it was that he found out it was a hook.
It wasn't stuck too deep, but I had to use a small plier to yank it off because of the barb.

One story my mom always likes to tell is when he had to go to the dentist one day, to take care of a bad tooth. He actually hates needles, so he told the doctor to get on with it anyway, without any anaesthetics.
He was handling the pain well, but the dentist got so anxious and nervous while treating my dad that he begged him to allow him to apply the anaesthetic, so he could continue treating him.
