Don't know what Kerbal Space Program is? Watch Markiplier's playthrough!

I'm really sorry for the size of this comic, but I didn't want to lose any of the image's quality.

And please, bear in mind that this's my very first comic, so there'll be errors.

So, I really love Kerbal Space Program. And MLP. So, why not merge the two in a single comic? I gotta say, it really was a pain to make, especially to organize everything and make sure nothing'd be out of place. And it still sucks a bit because it didn't come out the way I've envisioned it.

Since I like to write walls of text, here's my explanation for each panel:

-Applejack: like I stated in another image, she's my favourite, so no way I'd give her the "dumb redneck can't compute" joke. Besides, that joke's getting kind of old. Therefore, I decided to make her the most cautious, going through the training mode before actually start building a rocket herself.

-Twilight: being the egghead of the group, it'd be no surprise to see her quickly getting the hang of KSP and actually do calculations and stuff. Basically, she'd be the Scott Manley   of the Mane 6.

-Fluttershy: like with AJ and Twi, it wasn't difficult to set a scene for Flutters. It'd be obvious to make her so concerned with the kerbals' well-being, she'd almost totally disregard the fact that her overzealousness may put her space mission in jeopardy. On the bright side, the number of kerbal casualties would be close to zero.

-Rarity: another no-brainer, except that I nearly made her focus only on beauty than on efficiency.

-Pinkie Pie: it was hard to find a good scene for Pinkie, but in the end I went for the "Pinkie Pie breaking the 4th wall" theme. Also, I could throw in a reference to Markiplier, my favourite YouTuber.

-Rainbow Dash: I'm probably gonna get a lot of backlash for this one, but I really wanted to throe in another Markiplier reference  . And actually, that was one of the reasons why I came up with the idea for this comic in the first place. I'm still not sure if I should leave a moderate mature tag because of the penis joke, though.

As always, suggestions and advice and (constructive) criticism are more than welcomed.

You must really like Markipikler (I, personally, love his SCP: Foundation videos, even if they do scare the crap out of me.)

And this game...sounds like a lot of fun. Is it anything like Spore?

JohnFlaherty In reply to Tyraka628 [2014-03-28 02:30:36 +0000 UTC]

I like Markiplier a lot, indeed. ^^

I haven't played Spore in a good while, so I can't say much about it bein' similar to KSP. To put it simply, you build your own rocket and, through the process of trial-and-error, find the best set-up you can to either send a satelite to orbit or visit other planets in the Kerbal system. I could try to explain how Kerbal Space Program works even further, but I suggest you click the link in the description to watch Mark's video and draw your own conclusions.

Note, however, that in the first two parts, he fails miserably and hilariously. From the third part on, he gets better and doesn't fail that much. But you'll be able to see how things work.

tl;dr, I highly recommend this game if you're into space stuff. I mean, Hell, even actual NASA engineers play it, and they love it.

Ugh, I tell ya: gamers like him make it look easy. I got the demo today and I couldn't even get the rockets out of the atmosphere (I killed Bob!)! TEN ships, the best of them reach about 10,000 feat before taking a nose dive or running out of fuel. Oui...it's gonna take a bit of practice to get it to work.

It's not easy to learn "how to space" in ths game. The tutorials help, but eventually, you'll have to rely on trial-and-error, or watch other people play it on YT and see what they're doing.

Once you've figured things out, though, it can be a really fun game.

this is how the mane six are at ksp,
Aj: The one who is still new to KSP
Twili: The very quick learner( kinda how I am at ksp)
Fluttershy: the one who wants no kerbals to die(aka the safety first one)
Pinkie pie: I actually have no idea
Rarity: the one who goes for how things looks than behave and preform(sorta how I try to make things accurate to cars and planes in real life without mods)
Pinkie pie: I actually have no idea
RD: the most immature one who makes Rockets that look like male privates

And go through the training and watch Scott Manley's videos.

What im going to do is first work on building systems that work and test them on earth. When I have figured they work, launch. Sorta the same process in real life, except it is over the course of say half hour when in real life it is years. (Im just guessing half hour, I dont know how long it will be)

Lemme know of your experience with it, okay?

A warning, though: landing on the Mun is way harder than it looks. X.x

cyborgebolt In reply to JohnFlaherty [2014-01-02 21:50:53 +0000 UTC]

ive tried landing on the moon in demo. never even got out of the atmosphere(although i made a skipping thing. took landing struts and it actually moves. although it was an utter failure)
anyway, created a plane. it has lousy takeoff, but the escape pod feature passed with flying colors. i think

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnFlaherty In reply to cyborgebolt [2014-01-02 22:01:19 +0000 UTC]

You'll really need to take your time and learn how to space, 'cause it ain't easy. And there're other planets and moons on the Kerbal System, so the Mun is the "easiest" body you can reach.

One hint, though: when you take off, always go East, it takes less fuel.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cyborgebolt In reply to JohnFlaherty [2014-01-02 22:05:37 +0000 UTC]

thats a weird fact about the fuel. i guess it is based off the earth rotation. oh, now it makes sense. anyway, if im going to space,i need to get used to the equipment and stuff. i need to build rovers that pass trial tests. in order to work effeciently in space, you need to get certain stuff taken care of

JohnFlaherty In reply to cyborgebolt [2014-01-02 22:10:50 +0000 UTC]

Try the Sandbox mode first before the Career mode, so you can get used to the game.

And remember the two most important tools: the SAS and the struts.

The SAS to help keep your rocket stable, and the struts to prevent you from sending a floppy penis into space.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cyborgebolt In reply to JohnFlaherty [2014-01-02 22:13:08 +0000 UTC]

i know. if all else fails, add a shitload of struts

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnFlaherty In reply to cyborgebolt [2014-01-02 22:20:36 +0000 UTC]

That's what I learned from a friend of mine.

Even if your rocket ends up looking like a hundred-ton scaffolding structure, as long it's solid as a rock, it's all cool.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cyborgebolt In reply to JohnFlaherty [2014-01-02 23:40:17 +0000 UTC]

i guess that means rocks are more space worthy then rockets

JohnFlaherty In reply to cyborgebolt [2014-01-02 23:44:03 +0000 UTC]

They certainly are more space worthy than the kerbals.
