As I stated on my comic Legendary Trick I'm a big Roy Orbison fan. And since apparently I can only create images if they're inspired by music, it was obvious that I should create something based on his work. But I had to be in the right state of mind to do so and, well, lately I've been feeling a bit down. I guess you can actually make the most of any situation.
I could use this image as an excuse to ramble on about him, but I'll save that when/if I create a comic based on Running Scared.
And if you're wondering, the image behind the lyrics is from the cover of The Big O's last studio album, Mystery Girl.
Oh, and there IS a reason why I put that Gretsch guitar on a chair. Let's see if you guys can figure it out.
Hint: it references a videoclip.

Okay, I wasn't really sure if I should've left the lyrics in the image or not. I might upload the lyrics-free image later, I don't know.
Also, because I just know someone's gonna bring this up: I don't think Vinyl is a jerk. But I do believe she could have the "free spirit" sort of personality, which could cause her to unwillingly hurt one's feelings sometimes. I think the I Am Octavia animation shows exactly what I mean.

I like the texture of the background kinda like the world is in shades of grey with out them.
I like the originality even though you used lyrics and Vinyl
the shading is awesome but the guitar looks a bit to realistic for mlp.
The shadow makes Mlp seem realistic which is a good thing instead of making it look like you just pasted a mlp pic on a background.
That almost made me cry as soon as I saw it and the title matches

The Gretch was featured in The Traveling Wilbury's End of the line video; which was shot after Roy had passed. Beautiful song from a beautiful final album by the Roy Orbison. You reintroduced him to me with this image. Thanks!

A big part of the fandom like to see them as lovers - bit of an odd-couple trope -, while the other part prefers to see them as just good friends/roommates.
They haven't had a lot of exposition in the show, but they quickly rose to become some of the most popular background characters with the fans.

It's not that I don't know. But I think the "odd couple" trope has a lot to do with this, what with both being musicians but of different fields, so to speak.

A very beautiful work. I can't speak to technique because I'm not an artist, but I am a musician and can definitely state that your picture captures the melancholy of Roy's lyrics very, very well. Do keep the lyrics in the image: in my opinion it adds power. And I agree - Vinyl's not a jerk by any means but her personality type, as you mention, can get so caught up in her own little "bubble" that she causes some real pain, however unintentional. I can't .help with the Gretsch reference- guitar's not my instrument
