It is not often that Sophia Warley (Kate and Holly's aunt) gets genuinely angry at her son but this morning, on the last school day before the summer holidays, she is being pushed very close to it. She has an early and important meeting to attend for the charity she works for and Josh has been extra slow this morning getting ready, too absorbed in playing with his Nintendo Switch console.

"Josh!" she shouts as she kneels down in front of him and grabs hold of his wrist, lifting it up. In his unrestrained hand he is holding his Nintendo Switch, which he has been playing continually since getting up this morning. "I don't care if it's the last day of school before the summer holidays, you still need to get your uniform on and be there on time."

"But Mu-u-u-m-m-m-y-y-y! I almost finished this bit in Leedgy's Mansion ! Five minutes and I'll be ended!" Josh whines.

Sophia glowers at her son. "I don't have five minutes to spare; I need to get to my meeting after I've dropped you off at school, so please do as you are told!" She can feel her blood pressure rising and her patience beginning to run out.

Josh pouts. "Not fair! I hate wearing a stupid uniform. And I wanna play Leedgy's Mansion. Stupid school!" He stamps his foot after this outburst, pouts even harder, and attempts to pull his arm down as Sophia brings his school polo shirt up in an attempt to start putting it on him.

"Joshua! Will you stop being so naughty and just do as you're told, for God's sake! Put your game down... now! ... and get both arms in the air so I can put this sodding shirt on you!" Sophia shouts. As she does so, she feels an overwhelming urge to slap him, to use force to make her little boy comply with her command, and she instantly feels bad for entertaining this impulse even for a fraction of a second. Quickly, she thinks of another incentive to make him do what she wishes of him. "Look... if you don't do as you're told right this minute and let me get this shirt on you, we won't be taking you to the bike shop tomorrow and you won't be getting a brand new bike because you're being such a naughty boy."

Reluctantly, Josh drops his Switch (there is carpet on the living room floor, so the console is not damaged) and puts his arm up while scowling at his mother. "Don't like you. You're mean to me all the time."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm so mean for making you attend school dressed properly," Sophia says in a lighter tone as she feels Josh might not be complying willingly but she can now make a little progress by getting the polo shirt over his head.

It is a start but there are still his shorts and shoes to go...
