Next morning, after the twins stayed at Felicity's for the night, things go pretty much as Felicity expected.

Judy insisted on wearing her ballerina outfit to sleep in but soon discarded the tutu when she discovered it was almost impossible to lie down and not crease it horribly. She kept the leotard and the ballet slippers on, however. When Paige gets her up for school, Judy stubbornly refuses to take these off, and even puts the tutu back on, absolutely refusing to have anything to do with her school uniform. Jake wonders if his sister is expecting to attend school dressed like this, and from how insistent she is that she continue to wear it, he believes she wants to wear it for school. Paige threatens to phone the twins' mother to tell her how naughty her little girl is being and that she should confiscate all of Judy's ballet things until she promises to behave. This appears to work and Judy reluctantly exchanges her ballet items for a pair of knickers, claiming that she will have to go in the shower after her breakfast so why should she put on anything more until she is washed and dried? Paige sees this as success of a kind and concedes to this part of her niece's demands, allowing her to run about semi-naked for the time being.

Jake, by comparison, is very well-behaved and follows Paige downstairs to the kitchen to get his breakfast without a fuss.

Felicity, meanwhile, is already up and currently out of the house, taking Wilberforce for his morning walk and thankfully missing all the drama she knows will be taking place back home.

In the kitchen, the twins eat their cereal and toast, and drink their orange juice. Jake finishes his first and puts his used bowl on the worktop beside the sink. "Thank you, Auntie Paige. You make nice toast and the jam was really yummy!" he says.

"Why, thank you! And you're welcome, Jake," Paige answers with a big smile. The contrast between the two twins always amazes her. "Did you enjoy playing card games with Fliss last night?"

Jake nods eagerly. "Yes! It was brilliant! Flissy taught me rummy! I was rubbish at first but then I learned what to do and then I started winning."

"You're free to stay over any time you want, you know?" Paige tells him. "You'd have to ask Fliss if she can spare the time, though, if you want to play more card games with her. She's really quite busy some nights with homework. But definitely feel free to ask."

"I know, Auntie. She said she has lots of homework from going to the Big School now and, like, I should ask before I come over," Jake says. "Flissy's fun, even if she is a girl and talks about boring girl stuff sometimes. But I really like staying here!"

"And we enjoy having you over, Jake," Paige compliments her nephew. "Now... run along and go pop in the shower."

"Ohhhh... Auntie! A shower?" Jake whines.

"Yes, dear," Paige turns to address him on a matter she considers quite a serious one. "In this house, we're firm believers in personal cleanliness, and it's good to start young with good habits. When you get used to it, a shower first thing in the morning is lovely. It sets you up nice for the day to come."

"Well..." Jake's face takes on the disappointment an 8-year-old boy has when confronted with the prospect of being made to go in the shower. "... okay, I guess," he agrees rather unwillingly.

Just as Jake is turning to leave the kitchen to go upstairs and begin his shower, Judy jumps off her chair and scampers over to the sink. She pushes Jake to one side, hapazardly dumps the bowl next to her brother's, and turns to him. "Going in the shower before you, Jakey-poo, and gonna take a looooooong time! Hehehe!" she giggles and ends it by sticking her tongue out at him. She then races towards the door, leaving Jake and Paige quite stunned for a second.

"Judy!" Paige shouts at the retreating little figure sprinting out of the kitchen. "Don't take forever! Jake needs to use the bathroom, too!"

Judy merely laughs again. "Girls rule, boys drool!" she shouts as she exits the room followed by the sound of footsteps which Jake and Paige have trouble believing are being made by someone so small running up the stairs.

"Does that mean I won't have time t---" Jake begins optimistically.

"Don't even think it, young man!" Paige interrupts him, guessing exactly what he is about to suggest. "You're going in that shower even if I have to drag your sister out still dripping wet."

Jake tuts petulantly and goes back to the chair he was sitting on to eat his breakfast. He puts his head in his hands, adopting a resigned look as he waits for his sister to finish in the bathroom and for his unwanted and, in his opinion, unnecessary turn in there to begin.
