"That was the most awesomest thing I've ever done, Claire! EVER!" Nadia exclaims as she steps onto the mounting block after getting off Cloverpatch. "I want to live here at the stables forever and be surrounded by horses all day!"

Claire laughs and holds out her hand to help Nadia step off the mounting block, which Nadia takes and jumps back onto solid ground. "I'm so happy! That was just the best thing I think I've ever done and probably ever will!" Nadia continues with her enthusiasm and begins stroking and petting Cloverpatch, telling him what a handsome and well-behaved boy he is. Cloverpatch seems to appreciate all the attention he is getting from the small girl.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, Nadia," Claire says. She points her eyes at the helmet Nadia is still wearing and gives it a nod to bring the excited girl's attention to it. "Now... if we can pass the helmet on to Holly here, she can have her first ride, too."

Nadia begins undoing the chin strap on the helmet and Claire turns to where Holly and Xiulan have been standing while watching Nadia's laps around the courtyard . When Nadia has removed the helmet and passed it to Claire (after which Nadia immediately returns to petting Cloverpatch), Claire then holds it out towards Holly. "How about it, Hols? You've put off riding Clover for so long now, you've been beaten to it by someone who's way smaller than you. You got no excuse now, short stuff!"

Holly pulls a brief face in reaction to Claire's good-natured dig at her stature then looks at the offered helmet and realizes that, yes, Nadia has put all of Holly's previous excuses for not getting on the back of Cloverpatch into perspective: if little Nadia Swinley, the 4'6" girl with dyspraxia, can do it then Holly Hewson, able-bodied and 4'10", should have no problem.

"You can do it, Holly, and do well on it!" Xiulan says with an encouraging and supportive hand on her girlfriend's shoulder.

Holly tightens her lips and looks at the helmet for a few long seconds. "Okay," she says as she releases her breath and reaches out to take the helmet. "Let's do this."
