Description
Hypothesis:I really have just one original character, and my gallery is a result of failed attempts to reproduce it over the years.
But in all honesty, this is something that's been bugging me recently. I have difficulty drawing my own characters consistently! I don't know if this is the reason I keep making one shot characters or just a result of the practice.
Bwaaaaahmyshamefulsecret
Maybe if I practice drawing crappy manga I will get better at this.

Sometimes I'll trace a drawing and it still comes out too different.

I LOLed. I for some reason rarely have this problem, and I think I know why: generally, if I draw a character that looks good, I reproduce the facial and body proportions of the first drawing, measuring carefully, into all the others.

It happens to everyone. It takes me forever to draw my character consistantly... then I go and change it up and have to start all over again. XD I really love your gallery either way.

I guess you have to have a 3D map in your head first? Like thinking of your character as a model sitting on your desk or something

Yeah I think that is the hardest part of drawing characters - making them actually look like the same character each time. You're super awesome though, so keep trying!

Although I'm nowhere near as skilled as you, I'm able to draw my characters consistently. I usually start out really simple, and the more I draw them, the more details I add, then, BOOM. I just memorize every pencil stroke c:

Its pretty true especially when you draw comic forms. Most of the time we only see the front of the face but then thats all you draw, the front of the face. SO the style kind of gets to you, and the result is a flatten picture.
The best resolution is to study some of the human faces from different angles. It somewhat helps to study some bone structure, because human drawings and anatomy remain closely the same. Draw like a concept artist/animator basically. Start simple shapes and know your landmarks. Even if you don't know your bone structure, its ok to give your self some guidelines, so you know where everything goes and it remains more consistent.
You probably realize how much manga artist are actually pretty awesome since they are so consistent with their characters. It probably helps if you find some original sketches of your favorite artist to see how they resolve the problem of being consistent.

in retrospect, you did correctly draw her in another angle, as in as a different age, its the same as looking at somthing from another angle. but yeah not exactly what you had in mind.
