Description Auriea made this image at the occasion of the launch of the Mac version of our game The Path . I like how the reference to Eve giving the apple to Adam in front of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (which, in the game, is the tree that Ginger climbs in) subverts the expectations that people might have about the fairy tale of Little Red Ridinghood that inspired the game. It is indeed one of the questions that we are wondering about: is it the wolf who seduces the girl or the other way around?

We also made a new trailer .

This pic is beautiful. Coloring is maked well and Ruby looks really pretty there. And those little drawings are always so interesting.

wow! this is great! I've always wanted to play The Path. My favourite Reds are Rose (because I kind of identify with her in being deeply spiritual) and Ginger (because I find her Wolf very unique as well as her Grandmother's House vision).

What gave you and Auriea the idea to make this wonderful game?

Thank you!

The Little Red Ridinghood fairy tale gave us the idea. It's all in there. We just brought it out.

A question popped up today while playing The Path. Ginger had an little accident near the flower field, after climbing to that tree. Are there more ways for little Ginger to get "lost" in the forest than the flower field?

To "get killed" is just something too dramatical ;<

Each girl meets her wolf. There's only one wolf per girl. Her wolf.

I love this image, even though I don't like Ruby's wolf. The symbolism is lovely, and I enjoy that bit about Ginger's tree being the tree of knowledge.

So who's the snake?

GeminiParadox In reply to JohnyZuper [2009-07-29 01:18:12 +0000 UTC]

That depends on what the wolf represents. Ruby's humanity, decay, sin, death, peer pressure... Maybe she's offering him the knowledge of good, trying to reform him; or maybe he gave her the apple and she's giving it back. It looks like there's a black-lipsticked bite on the apple. So I guess she already tasted it? Maybe found it not to her liking, or wants to share it with him?

Endless interpretations, just like in the game. Good image, though

This rebinds me of the first time I played, I picked Ruby because I already loved her... and practically straight off the block I decided that it would be perfectly safe to go sit next to a wolf. That wold in particular.

I was pretty upset that I'd got her "raped" and "murdered" but then, your game really leaves so much up to interpretation I realised. Who knows what really happened...

Ruby's character design is so wonderful~

Maybe she just wanted to be close to the Wolf and he rejected her?

It was always my question with little red riding hood too - who is the villain of this tale?

"Villain" is such a simplistic word...

Isen't it though, to be awnset I don't think there is a true villan in The Path, infact I happen to think Ruby over there made friends with her wolf.

Oooh, very nice... Auriea, you're a goddess! Haha! Love this so much!... and I think it was quite willingly she let herself slip into the hands of evil...
