Description
The young Pakistani Pashtun fifteen year-old girl who was shot point blank in her school bus by the Taliban on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 while on her way home from school, because she advocated education for all boys and girls in her country. By the grace of God, she survived.
Sanford Prismacolor colored pencils on Bristol board, smooth. My reference for this drawing was the photo by Antonio Olmos which appears on the Jacket cover of the book, I AM MALALA, The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban, written with the help of Christina Lamb, a British Foreign Correspondent.

Wonderful drawing Joyce! I love this little girl. She is such an inspiration to girls and women everywhere. I really feel she should have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize, but no she didn't. I will have to get her book. I so admire this brave young girl.

Thank you dear friend. Malala is one gutsy young lady to publicly declare that girls deserve an education every bit as much as boys do, in a country were few females ever have such an opportunity. She nearly paid with her life for this boldness. I am reading an entirely different book now, on my iPad. The book is, On The Trail of Genghis Khan: An Epic Journey Through the Land of the Nomads by Tim Cope.

Sounds like a good book. He was particularly a vicious leader as I understand. Good reading!

Very nice drawing, and a good likeness. Malala's story deserves to be more widely known.
