Description
Pastels on pastel paper. I am still trying to find my way with pastels. I haven't gotten comfortable with them yet. I saw this photo on FB awhile back. I do not know who took the photo or I would gladly credit them; but the squirrel was so appealing, he practically begged me to draw him. So, I gave it my best try.Related content

Thanks, dear Lanka. Β This one gave me an excuse to get out my pastels, to see what I could do with them. Β It turned out better than I thought it would. Β

Thank you, Kevin. Β Watching squirrels has given my husband and I many laughs, while we're sitting at our breakfast room table. Β Β I could not find a squirrel icon that resembles our squirrels. Β Ours are fox squirrels, not gray squirrels. Β

Thanks you, Kyra. I had a similar warm feeling when my eyes spied the photograph which I used for a reference. The urge to draw this squirrel was irresistable!

Hvala Petra za dodajanje moj pastelno risbo veverico ("Lepo prosim!") Za vaΕ‘e priljubljene zbirke.
Petra, for adding my pastel drawing of a squirrel ("Pretty please") to your 's. This squirrel looks like it is begging for some sunflower seeds or peanuts. We feed our squirrels these treats.

Thank you Shirley. Ed (my husband) and I are quite fond of squirrels, as we haven't yet suffered any damage or been terrorized by any, as have some folks. We regularly put out food for the birds and squirrels. We even spread some black sunflower seeds and some unsalted, roasted peanuts (in shells) on the window sill outside our two breakroom windows. A squirrel is sitting there now, as I type this. He is eating sunflower seeds now, but earlier he was busy burying peanuts. We call all of the squirrels "Veverka" which is the Czech word for squirrel. (Our daughter-in-law is Czech.) Before Jaroslava joined our family, we used to call them "Sylvester," but that is a masculine name, so it wouldn't apply well to the females. It isn't any use to give them individual names, as we can hardly tell them apart anyway, so now "Veverka" works for us. Our squirrels are Fox Squirrels, so they are a reddish brown in color.

Thank you, Evan. You handle ink and watercolors very well, so I am sure you could do well with pastels, if you give them another try.
