was thinking about putting this as a spoiler but, no, because 1) the game has been out for a longtime. and 2) the new HD remake screen shots makes for no question as to 'who' the hooded person is. (unlike the DS one, without voiceovers, the sprites made him a mystery)all we've been through...we've seen you're life Roxas. we know you. SO WHY are you saying these things?! (that's a rhetorical question so don't answer). This part is difficult for sora, but it's tough for us the players as well! T_T remember this was back when there was no hope for nobodies. or for anyone for that matter.
quite honestly Castle Oblivion Is my favorite part in Re:Coded. It just has so much drama (the good kind not the bad kind) I'm So excited to hear Jessy and Hayley's performance in these scenes.

My whole thought on that is that at this point, he probably is really hurt from all the shit that happened to him and is just accepting a dark reality; depressed basically and turning the pain into some sick humor I guess (I went through this lol so I know that's a thing that happens)

Not really. I get what you're trying to say, but you're using the wrong word. Nihilism is the idea that absolutely NOTHING matters. Data-Roxas isn't saying that nothing matters, just that Sora's pain and that some of Sora's memories don't matter. If I had to choose a correct word, it would be denial. He's asking Sora to bury his problems deep down instead of facing them. He'sf DENYING his problems along with Sora's.

More Like a Data version of a Nobody. That's like double the pain, as you don't exist as a virtual being and you know that but your a virtual being of something THAT'S NOT REALLY SUPPOSE TO EXIST. Your basically a nonexistents nonexistent.

It gets worse. The fact that 80% of the fans have never played Re-coded and have only watched the few important cutscenes(which don't have Data Roxas in them, sadly) means that most of the fanbase are unaware or have forgotten his existence. Basically, that means that he's also a nobody on a litteral and meta level, which makes it QUADRUPLE THE PAIN.

I took this as a sign that he may faintly remember Xion. Like he knows there was someone else he cared about, but can't put a name or face to it. As a sign of denial, he says these things. Even in this picture I can interpret it like this by the look on his face. "Hey no big deal..." (What am I saying). "You can still be free..." (That isn't what I meant).

What makes this part hurt so much is that roxas is clearly talking about himself here, even more then Sora. He's referring to the whole thing from Days, and how he lost Xion. I always imagined him saying this in a very self depreciating tone and it makes me sad.

And although Roxas may sound mockingly at first like how you drew him here, but after taking Days into account, I'm pretty sure his face isn't like that everytime he spoke those words to Data Sora. :\
He probably looked very angry behind the hood rather than grinning like this. Ya know, like he's probably also frustrated and hurt that he couldn't remember people close to him too like *coughXioncough*.

What I love about the DS/GBA games - it removes inflection - it removes emotion. You don't know *how* he's saying these things.
Who is he really talking to? Sora? Himself? They are both on the same journey. And maybe it's still up in the air as to who should be leading that journey.

I saw some inspection to this scene on Tumblr. Roxas has a heart and the memories he didn't know how to react to at the time with this data equivalent, and wants Sora to hurt just as much as he did.

...Roxas is very clearly speaking to Sora. But at the same time he's talking himself. Maybe trying to say 'There's a person I can't remember, no matter how hard I try, but if I say they weren't important than maybe the hurt will go away' to himself/the Real Roxas(capital letters because that's important) more than Sora. Or maybe, like I said, he is saying it to the REAL Roxas through Data Sora...Like Data Roxas-->Data Sora-->Sora-->Roxas type of thing? idk, just speculation.
Roxas is still a little shit for saying this though XD
I stand by my thought that Roxas can remember Xion after rejoining Sora. Yep.
